Couch to 5K, day 3!

So, I was up late last night (much like I am tonight). I slept in today. That won’t happen tomorrow.

I went to work. I came home. I did day 3 of the Couch to 5K.  Felt great. Time FLEW by!

Okay, breakfast today was made in a hurry then eaten at work. Weight watcher toast (1), 1tbsp light Western cream cheese (1) and 1tbsp Crofter’s North America (1)

DSCN5448

I missed a snack today I think!  Work was busy.

Lunch was a spinach salad with 30g light cheddar (2) and 1/2c shrimp (1) and veggies. Dressing was Renee’s Wellness Tuscan something or other. 4tbsp – ZERO points. LOVE this stuff. It tastes like bruschetta!  SOOOO GOOD!

DSCN5449 DSCN5451

There was also strawberries and blueberries, sans photos (2)

I also missed afternoon snack due to some babies visiting our office. I took pictures… but I don’t have consent to post them… so I must refrain. But babies are cute.

I may have eaten a thumbprint cookie on my way out the door today.  How many points? It was the size of a toonie, I’ll guess no more than 3 points.

Dinner was (no photos) a PC thins (3), egg (2) and egg whites (0)

Just for fun… here’s the baked potato I talked about the other day.  It was so good!

DSCN5443 DSCN5445

Tomorrow is weigh in!  I plan an extra week 1 session of the couch to 5K in the morning, then a nice power walk on lunch (in the SUN! I will get COLOUR!).  Tomorrow night Alex and I are heading down to the Toronto Maple Leafs game!!  Woohoo!  We know they are already out of the playoffs (officially as of last night), but games are still fun, tickets are hard to come by in this crazy hockey city… and it’s April Fool’s Day… so maybe they can pull off a win against Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres!

HAPPY APRIL FOOL’S DAY!

Remember… it’s better to be the foolER than the foolEE! Just don’t be mean!

Couch to 5K, day two!

So, it’s incredibly late and I must get to bed. I wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know that I did day 2 of the c25k this morning!  My alarm goes off at 6:15. I woke up at 5:30 today, wide awake. Instead of letting myself go back to sleep for 45min I decided to start my day. I managed to get some baking in the oven and do the c25k. I have to say… it was even easier today. I really enjoyed how quickly the intervals make the time fly by!  I have already recommended it to a couple of people!  My shins didn’t hurt (but I DID make a point of stretching as well before AND after).  Thanks to everyone for all of the words of wisdom… especially about stretching. I am horrible at stretching.

I didn’t take food pictures today, but I can recycle some from before!

Breakfast was weight watcher toast (1) with western light cream cheese, 1tbsp (1) and 1 tbsp Crofter’s Asia (1)… plus an apple (1)

A similar photo from days gone by…DSCN5397

Snack was sun rype mini bites (2)

DSCN5133

Lunch was Green Giant Essentials – Fibre (4) and shrimp (1)

DSCN5191

Followed by strawberries and blueberries (2) – no photos!

Snack was naner mash (4)

DSCN5433

Dinner was a salad with veggies (0), cheese (2) and Renee’s Wellness Yogurt Cucumber Dill dressing, 2tbsp (2)

(bringing back the erect spinach!)DSCN5406

Salad was followed by a SMALL baked sweet potato (0) topped with the last spoonful of Liberte Greek (0), a spoonful of fat free cottage cheese (0) and salsa (0). YUM.

There was also a snack of more Reese’s Pieces eggs (4)

I’m off to bed. I’ve been super busy all day/evening. I need by bed.  I hope to have more time tomorrow evening for a better post and catch up on all of your wonderful blogs!!

Couch to 5K, day 1 done!

Happy Monday.  Aren’t we all SO glad to be back to work (those of us with Monday to Friday jobs)??  The good news is that it’s only a 4 day week!

This morning began my first day of the Couch to 5K program. I have to say… it wasn’t as dull as I thought it would be! Today’s plan was a 5min brisk walk then alternating 60sec of jogging with 90sec of walking for 20min. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit I worked up a little sweat!  The walking intervals went by fairly quickly… and in fact, doing intervals made the whole 25min go by quickly!  My shins actually DID hurt while jogging. This is a reminder to STRETCH before hand.  The other problem is that my treadmill keeps periodically ‘sticking’ on the track… so I don’t think I’m relaxed while jogging out of fear of falling off and hitting my head on the cement wall behind me.  I’ll keep trying though!  Tomorrow morning at 6:30 I’ll be back at it!

On to today’s food…

Breakfast was 3/4c Kashi toasted berry cereal (4), 1/2c unsweetened vanilla almond breeze (0), 3 strawberries (0)

DSCN5427

Lunch was a PC blue menu thins bun (3), 1/2c fat free cottage cheese (1), grape tomatoes (0), strawberries (1) – side note, I always counted 1/2c as 2 points. It’s actually only 1pt because there’s 3g of fibre!

DSCN5435 DSCN5436 DSCN5434

So good. This lunch made me think of summer/my dad/my grandma. Dad used to always make toasted tomato sandwiches for us in the summer… and so did my grandma. Once her tomatoes ripened, we lived off of them (I lived with her for several summers and she cooked for me every day. What a perfect Grandma!).

Post c25k was a smoothie with some frozen strawberries, bananas and blueberries (2), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (1), spinach (0) and Berry Amazing Grass (0)

DSCN5439

Afternoon snack was some (thawed) frozen mango and blueberries. Holy Heaven, Hannah!  I am not keen on thawed fruit… but these 2 are definite winners. Must. Buy. More. Mango!

DSCN5437 DSCN5438

Dinner was at work… it was 1/2c brown rice (2), mixed veggies (0), soy sauce (1) and shrimp (1) – mmmmmm stir fry.

DSCN5431

Dessert was more naner mash. 1 small banana (1), 1/2c homemade granola (2), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (1).  I swear, this stuff keeps me so freakin’ full!  I made another batch for tomorrow but then I’m out of granola and small bananas. I will definitely buy more after Easter!

DSCN5433

I caved when I got home and had 6 Reese pieces mini eggs (4)… note, there’s only 5 in the picture because I couldn’t wait for the camera and popped 1 in my mouth right away.

DSCN5441

I have to admit, I’m proud of myself for not bingeing on these eggs and eating them in controlled portions!!  Now to keep it up over Easter weekend!!

Also for fun… I took a picture of my vitamins

DSCN5429

One of my New Years resolutions was to remember to take them every day. I have missed 1 week last month… but otherwise, still taking them!

Happy Tuesday!!

Just another Sunday

Today started out with a trip to the grocery store as soon as I woke up.  I had slept in longer than I like to so I got up and flew out the door to get groceries.  By the time I came home it was pretty much lunch time and the leftover pizza from last night was SCREAMING for me to eat it!

Brunch: 4pc Pizza Hut edge veggie (4)

DSCN5379 DSCN5382

mid afternoon snack was 1/2 PC blue menu thins (1), 1tbsp light Western cream cheese (1) & 1tbsp Crofter’s Asia (1)

DSCN5393 DSCN5397

followed by a few dried kiwi pieces (1)

DSCN5401

I found THIS while out…

DSCN5385

I snacked on a few spoonfuls throughout the day, so I’m counting it as 1/2c (3)

Dinner was a baked sweet potato (0 – seriously, weight watcher scale said it’s 0pts. Guess it was small enough!), 1/2c black bean soup (1), salsa (0)… followed by a spinach salad with 30g light cheddar (2), veggies (0) and 2tbsp Renee’s Wellness yogurt cucumber & dill dressing (2)

DSCN5402 DSCN5405
The salad was so freaking good… the spinach got erect a wee bit excited.

DSCN5406

Dessert was another 1/2c Chapman’s Rocky Road fro yo (3)

DSCN5414

And then I got hungry again a few minutes ago and had 5 Reese pieces eggs (4)

DSCN5419

I managed to get some meringues made today

DSCN5384 DSCN5400 (coconut)

I also found some new frozen fruit at the grocery store…

DSCN5389

Dole is now making frozen fruit (or at least it’s new to me… maybe they always had these bags though).  Strawberry banana? My personal fave.  It SCREAMS smoothie to me. Can’t wait!

Tomorrow marks the start of my couch to 5K program! It’ll be on the treadmill for now… but I may take to the road here and there too.

Happy Monday to all!

DSCN5417

Chicklet can’t wait for the start of the work week.

Pizza & UFC Saturday

Saturday started out with a weight watcher bagel (2) and 1tbsp unsweetened apple butter (1)

DSCN5361

Lunch was an Amy’s burrito (6) with a side of sweet potato fries (2) and blue menu ketchup (1)

DSCN5367 DSCN5371

I also had 1 Reese’s Pieces egg (0)

DSCN5375 DSCN5377 DSCN5378

I had to work at the 2nd job last evening, but Alex was going to be settled all cozy here to watch UFC 111.  So, I had beer and pop in the fridge for him and put the eggs out for goodies for him. I was proud of myself for only eating 1 egg!

Dinner was a stir fry with 1/2c brown rice (2), veggies (0), soy sauce (1) and shrimp (1) – it was SO FILLING

DSCN5373

Dessert was naner mash… 1 small banana (1) and 1/2c granola (1) with 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder – all in an effort to keep me FULL and not snaking at work on a Saturday evening (because there’s ALWAYS a ton of unhealthy food out on weekends at that place)

DSCN5325

Later that night I had 1/2 Larabar (2).

When I came home I found Pizza Hut Edge Veggie pizza!!  I ate 1 slice (1) – did you know 1 slice is only 1pt?  My leader taught me that!

DSCN5380

It was followed by 4 more reese’s pieces eggs (3)

All in all, not a bad Saturday!

Burrito Friday!

On Friday I convinced Alex to go try the new gourmet burrito place at Fairview Mall.  It’s called Z-Teca

Alex quickly decided on a beef burrito with pico de gallo.  I, however, was torn. I am bound and determined to stay within my points for the weekend (there is no nutritional info on their website, you just have to figure it out yourself), but I really wanted a burrito (as opposed to a salad).  The kid behind the counter was very friendly and helpful and once I told him why I was indecisive… he suggested I get a burrito but rather than getting white rice in it, get lettuce. GENIUS. If Alex wasn’t with me, I may have kissed the kid.

I ended up with a burrito made with a whole wheat wrap with lettuce, black beans, chicken, a little cheese, pico de gallo and a little hot sauce.

My burrito

DSCN5356 DSCN5357 DSCN5359

The verdict? DELICIOUS. Definitely will get it again. I also would like to try the vegetarian one which comes with guacamole and roasted corn.

Alex’s burrito (with rice and beef)

He found his a bit too filling and actually couldn’t eat the whole thing!  BUT, we both loved them and may make this a regular Friday meal!
