Hump Day

First... here's my cake from last night. It's the Wilton course 1 finale cake. It's far from the perfection I had hoped... but it doesn't look bad in photos (in person you can see the flaws!). The cake is being served at work tomorrow for a co worker's birthday. Last week's cake got divided up between the Mathews and Sibley households... I did have 1 piece myself though!




Today I was exhausted in the morning... I got up, ate breakfast... and couldn't get myself off the couch... especially when I knew I was coming straight home after work and could do exercise then. So, THEN is when i did... biggest loser workout!

Today's menu:
Breakfast - hard boiled egg (2), oatmeal (2)
Lunch - salad with tuna (1), cheese (1), 2 tbsp ff Italian (0), veggies (0), hot peppers..mmm (0), couple of cups of chopped pineapple, strawberries, black grapes, blackberries (2), yogurt (1)
PM snack - salt and vinegar cukes (0) - maybe sea salt wasn't a great idea the day before WI? I don't know! oh well!!! I love me some S&V Cucumber right now!
Dinner - ODD DINNER TONIGHT.. snacking really... 2 ww tortillas (2), 2 ff cheese slices (1), salsa (0), 4 pieces ww bread (2), jam (2), ff cottage cheese and fruit cup (2)

Good luck tomorrow to everyone!!! I am off to do the dishes (aahhhh how I dream of having a dishwasher one day... and washer/dryer... and back yard... and NO elevator...)

Short, sweet and to the point


I'm exhausted... I have to go to bed!

I wanted to just post and inform the general public that I DID do my biggest loser cardio workout this morning!

What I ate?
BF - egg (2), oatmeal (2)
Lunch - bagel (2), turkey bacon (3), cheese slice (1), apple (1), yogurt (1)
Snack - salt and vinegar cucumbers (0)
Dinner - salad with tuna and cheese (2), fruit (2), carrots and hummus (1)
Snack after cake class - crackers (1), hummus (0), icing (2)

Basically my food was the same as yesterday really... since I packed lunch and dinner again last night.

I'm loving my salt and vinegar cucumber... I just add sea salt to the cucumbers soaking in vinegar.

Feelin' Groovy

So, it's Monday... everyone but ONE poor girl called in SICK to work today... so, instead of going in at 1pm I went in at 11am to help her out. I did still manage to get on the treadmill... but no biggest loser workout.

I had already packed my dinner for tonight at work but quickly put a healthy lunch together as well... here's how it all looked once it was said and done:


Here's what today looked like (food wise):
BF - oatmeal (2), yogurt (1)
Lunch - bagel (2), turkey bacon (1), ff cheese slice (1), carrots (0), grape tomatoes (0), hummus (1), salt and vinegar cucumbers (0)
PM Snack - apple (1)
Dinner - salad (0) with turkey breast (1), allegro cheese (1), hot peppers (0), red and orange peppers (0), ff italian 2 tbsp (0), pineapple (1), strawberries (1), a few grapes and blackberries (1), yogurt (1), mott's fruisations unsweetened kiwi and strawberry applesauce (1)
Snack - nativa organic crackers (1), cream cheese (1)

Tomorrow is work then cake class... hopefully I still go on the treadmill in the morning (or do BL workout)!!

Sunday of no exercise!


Okay... my intentions for today were good. Eat well, clean, laundry, bake and ice my cake for Tuesday's class, Biggest Loser workout, treadmill, out for the afternoon with Alex and Chicklet to the park... now that I think about it - I was definitely far too ambitious!

I actually did get everything done MINUS the biggest loser workout and treadmill. I literally spent about 4 hours on cleaning/cooking/baking... plus an hour walk with Alex and Chicklet... and about an hour of lounging on the couch just watching TV with Alex (even then I got up intermittently to do things... to which I heard "You don't know how to just relax, do you?". He's right... I can't relax when there is stuff to get done!

I have been proactive and made my lunch for tomorrow already (or dinner rather, since I work late tomorrow). One less thing to do in the morning so I may devote time to exercise!

Finally, time to get BACK to posting my intake!
BF - egg (2), egg whites (0), blue menu ketchup (0), oatmeal (2)
Lunch - 12" veggie subway (10)
Dinner - 4 shrimps (0), sauce (0), ww bread (1), turkey bacon x4 slices (3), 4 swiss ff cheese slices (2)

Well, it's a start!

I have done all of my grocery shopping... hellooooo produce! Between regular groceries and costco I have spent close to $200 on groceries in the past 2 days. This is likely in large part because I hadn't shopped for food in about 3 weeks!

I should have taken a photo of my lunch too... a flatout wrap with 2 slices of turkey bacon, swiss cheese slices, lettuce, tomato, dill pickles, hot peppers and italian dressing... it was soooo good! like my own sub right here at home! (i bought the banana peppers today - great investment!)

as for activity? none... besides pushing a shopping cart for over an hour and cleaning/cooking/putting groceries away for a few hours...

tomorrow I will get back at activity!! today was my lazy day i suppose!

I was up 1lb. Oh well... it could have been worse. I am glad to have my plan to use this weekend to get back on TRACK though!!

I've been Summoned


So, I was summoned to jury panel. I spent my day today at the 361 University courthouse. Care to know the excitement of my day? Sitting and reading my book. I literally sat in a room... in a chair... with about 75 people all around me... and I read my book. There was no action today. I didn't get called. I didn't get sent home. I ready my book ("Babyproof" - not bad so far! I like chick-lit though). Guess where I'll be the next 2 days as well - the same freaking place. It's exhausting sitting in a room with poor air circulation for 8 long... LONG hours. There's no TV... you can't leave (except for 1hr at lunch or to use the restroom for a "5min break").... it's a long freaking day. I get paid from work... but I don't even know if I get my full pay. That would totally suck if I don't. I should look into that!

My activity was NIL today. I had to leave here at 7am... which meant no time for the treadmill. Tonight I was exhausted AND I have cramps... I never get cramps... who knows what is up!

here's what I ate today though:
BF - fibre 1 bar (2), yogurt (1)
Lunch - salad (0) with chicken (3) and balsamic (2), 100 calorie pack x2 (4)
Snack - edamame (0), 100 calorie pack (2) - note my stuff today was things that were easy to pack and disposable
Dinner - tuna with FF miracle whip (2)... 100 calorie packs x3 (6)

what is up with me and 100 calorie packs today?

I'm going to be up this week... I'm bloated, I'm crampy... i ate and drank too much on the weekend (but it was worth it!). I have chosen to have this weekend off (no sickkids) and stay in town to concentrate on getting myself back on track. It's do or die time. I don't even know if I'll go to WI tomorrow... depending on when I leave downtown and how I'm feeling when i finally get home. It's going to be another VERY LONG DAY!

Monday I did my BL workout and treadmill... yesterday i did treadmill... but that is the extent of this week's activity. Oh well!!! One day at a time... no guilt... move on!

Absentee Blogger

I feel like my blogging has been limited as of late. I was definitely off track for the weekend... but back on track yesterday and today. I'm still working on finding my motivation again... but it will come. It has to. This weekend I'm staying in town and will finally get back on track (because me and temptations are finding each other far too easily the past couple of months on weekends! This weekend I'll have to focus!). Maybe I won't end up working this weekend either... that would be nice!!

Happy Saturday!!!


It's Saturday and the sun is shining. What more could we ask for? I got wind that Michele and Simon are making an appearance in Pontypool this weekend... so guess where I'm headed! They've actually been there since Thursday... and will likely be there until Thursday because Jacob is in Chicago on business.

So, I'm in the process of baking my cake for Tuesday's class (I'll ice it Sunday night)... then doing my BL workout (cardio max) and then showering and heading out!!! I think Alex may join us later on as well... then tomorrow it's off to Bowmanville to help the bride (or rather, one of the brides!!) do her invitations and try on her dress and stuff!!

Last night Alex and I felt the need to go out and indulge a little... we went to Shoeless Joe's and had a flatbread appetizer and I had a grilled veggie naan wrap with side salad... and TWO coors lights. We've both just been so busy lately we barely seem to have time for each other... so we enjoyed some beer together.

Today I've had a fibre 1 bar for breakfast and a cheesestring. I've also licked the spatula of buttercream icing... but i honestly don't think I've had more than 2 tbsp in total of the stuff. Who knows what I'll eat the rest of the day... but I will behave!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TARA!!!

I am slow at this today because my computer at work wouldn't let me upload a photo! damn the computers. damn all the computers!

anyway...

For those who don't know it already... Tara is the most amazing friend you could ever ask for. She is so NOT judgmental and is always there for you to cheer you up... bring you back to reality... encourage you... help you see on the bright side of things... and is an all around great person who anyone and everyone can count on. She means the world to me... and I happen to know she means the world to my family - including my aunt and her family and my uncle... and my grandparents! I just can't wait to share in her 30th special year with her. I know it will be the best one ever... because that's the least she deserves!!

On the WI front. i was up 0.4lbs. Time to get back at it hardcore again. Weddings aren't far away!!!

Exhaustion becomes me

I haven't had a quiet evening in a LONG time it seems (between working, cake classes, working job #2, WW, Pontypool, etc). My plan today was treadmill this morning and biggest loser workout tonight. I'm 0 for 2. I am too dang tired today (yes, I said dang. A sure indication that I am tired). This morning I woke up but felt a little nauseated and had a headache... so let myself go back to sleep knowing I would come home tonight and work hard. I haven't been able to get myself off the couch! So, I'll relax tonight, go to bed early... and kick it harder tomorrow morning as a last chance workout! YEAH!

Snack - 100 cal (2)

Snack - waist watchers x2 (2)

yes, I had cheesecake cravings today. The guilt will live with me until after I WI tomorrow.

Case of the Mondays...



I feel blah today. My mental state definitely leaves something to be desired. Maybe I just need to cry and let it out and start fresh tomorrow. who knows.

The good news is I did my biggest loser workout AND went on the treadmill this morning. Wait a minute. Didn't a wise Elle Woods once say "exercise gives you endorphines. Endorphines make you happy"? I think Ms. Woods and I need to have a word.

In order to not bring down the rest of you... here is what I've eaten today:
BF - choc fibre 1 bar (2), yogurt (1)
Snack - grapefruit (2)
Lunch - flatout wrap (1), hummus (1), skim milk cheese (1), lettuce (0), cottage cheese and fruit cup (2), 1/2c unsweetened applesauce with apples (3)
Snack - dill pickles - yep, still craving them like mad (0)
Dinner - salad (0) with egg (2), cheese (1), salsa (0), ff italian (0) - yep, odd combination, i know. hummus (1), carrots (0), unsweetened kiwi/strawberry applesauce (1), 100 cal pack (2)

Here's hoping Tuesday is a good day. I have cake decorating class after work so it's another late night for me... I think it will cheer me up though. I'll post a photo of the final product.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that

Good luck to all weighing in today... or any other day for that matter. But really good luck to Tara and myself!!

Welcome to Arin... a reader I had NO IDEA I had! I thought only Tara and Alex read my blog... now I better watch what I say and better stay a little more accountable and on track here!! I have found Wegman's to be a GREAT store to shop in when in the US... they have so many groceries! I always stock up on flatout bread there. The vitalicious muffins are also at Wegman's... however, I get them here in Ontario at Sobey's or Walmart Supercentres. They're in the freezer section around the ogranic or vegetarian stuff typically. Hopefully you find them!

I wasn't around yesterday because apparently I am a sucker. I got a call from SickKids while at my day job. They were desperate for someone to work the evening... I have a soft spot in my heart for them there... so I left the day job, dropped in at home to grab some dinner... then worked there until MIDNIGHT. I am TIRED today but am about to try to jump on the treadmill.

As for weighing in this week... I will be glad to maintain if at all possible. I don't think I can lose. I ate too much all weekend and haven't had enough activity this week to make up for it. LUCKILY I worked with the wonderful Jen (RN) last night who hasnt' seen me in ages and she made a HUGE deal about how great I looked (as much of a deal as you can quietly make about losing weight when you work with Eating Disorder patients)... she went on and on and told me I'm motivating her... she's going to go buy the biggest loser workout... that was it. I was so ready to get active again after that. She was the person I needed to remind me how far I've come and how I have to keep going and reach goal before the weddings!!! I think I just needed to hear it from her because it was great to hear it from someone I don't see every week (or month even). Maybe I'm odd... but really, whatever works to get my motivation back!

Enough killing time on here. I've gotta hit the treadmill!!!

Let the cake decorating begin!


I'm starting my cake decorating course tonight! Yay! I have TWO weddings I've been hired for (cupcake cakes). These courses will really help in my decorating abilities. I'm currently killing time at the office until the course starts (in Whitby). It's from 6:30-9:30. I've packed my little dinner and I'm eating it while I type.

I didn't get on the treadmill this morning. I am finding it so hard to get back into routine after Easter... I just have to give myself a kick in the butt really.

Here's what I've eaten today:
BF - oatmeal (2), yogurt (1)
L - salad with chick peas (2), cheese (1). apple (1), yogurt (1), dill pickles (0)
Dinner - ww bagel (2), veggie burger (2), cheese slice (1), carrots (0), hummus (1), vitalicious muffin (1)

No wonder I'm still hungry - I have a few points left to eat today!! I didn't have room to pack any more for my dinner though!

Wish me luck for my cake decorating (tonight I don't decorate, just take notes on basics). I hope others got out to enjoy the nice weather today (maybe a jog/run/walk?).

RIP great weekend

That's the big smile on my face after a great weekend (NOT foodwise). The smile has faded as the weekend comes to a close.

Friday was a sick day from work... but really, a mental health day. Stacey and I went to Lifefest and got a million free samples of stuff. We left there and headed to the LCBO and grabbed some Wild Vines blackberry merlot (good stuff! we sampled it at lifefest) and some naked grape... and beer. We then wandered over to swiss chalet to get dinner and head back to my place. We had dinner... ran up my stairs (Stac wanted to try 15 flights) - we're odd... then had some drinks. Around 11pm we decided we're NOT OLD and we would venture out (we were half way to bed when we decided this). so, off to the firken pub we go for a couple more beers... we took a cab to pizza nova, grabbed pizza (at 1am) and walked back to my place.

Saturday - hair cut first thing in the morning (just a trim for me). Stacey got a cut and ended up getting highlights. While waiting for her I walked around the mall and a lady approached me and asked if I wanted my make up done (this was in the Bay... and it was a Clinique lady who approached me) because they were doing complimentary make ups and the morning was really slow... so, while waiting for stac i got my make up done! at some point sickkids called and asked me to work that evening and I agreed. Once stac was done with her hair we walked around the mall, got some lunch... and she headed home. I worked saturday evening.

Today - got up, went grocery shopping (bought a whole bunch of organic products at shoppers. new "Nativa" organic line is the same price as regular groceries, so i decided to give it a try)... came home and did cleaning... then alex came and got me and we went for sushi and then he took me to sheridan nurseries and got me pretty flowers for all over my apartment for spring!!! they're pink gerbera daisies and some other pink flowers and a leafy plant... my apartment is so pretty (and clean! i cleaned hard this morning). after we came home and dropped off the plants we grabbed chicklet and drove to a park near alex's house and walked chicklet for an hour in the nice afternoon sun/warmth. She was in heaven. We came home and spent the evening relaxing! I have made my lunches for the next few days and the dishes are done... and I'm ready for bed.

So... the long and the short of it is there was limited activity (although walking ALL DAY friday must count for something... and being on the go for most of the day today too).... and i ate way toooo much friday and saturday (including alcohol on friday).

I'm so not ready to head back to work.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and the upcoming week is GREAT! Today my food has been back under control and I have much more confidence in my abilities this week than last week at this time. yay. also - tuesday night my cake decorating class starts!

Got Hunger?

So, it would appear my stomach issues are over and my hunger is back. No better day for that to happen than the day before weigh in, right? WRONG.

At least I got on the treadmill today! Yippee!!

Dinner - 2 flatouts (2), chick peas (2), cheese (1), hot pepper relish (0). ff cottage cheese and fruit cup (2), 2 ww cakes - oops! (2)
Snack - ww oatmeal cookie (1)

Oh boy. I'm going to be up this week... but the LESS i am up, the better. Treadmill is a MUST for tomorrow morning. I better go to bed now so I get enough sleep!!!

PS - LOVED, loved, LOVED biggest loser last night. watching the triathalon was amazing... watching ali carry mark over her back was so great it made me want to do my own little triathalon. maybe tomorrow. (haha!)

Where's that saddle again?


Oops... didn't get on the treadmill today. I don't know what is up with my stomach issues. This morning my oatmeal didn't exactly digest well. Who knows what's going on. I'll ride it out for a bit. Needless today, when you're making emergency washroom visits, the last place you want to be is on the treadmill!!!

Here's what I ate today:
BF - oatmeal (2), yogurt(1)
Snack - 100 calorie pack (2)
Lunch - romaine (0), tuna (1), cheese (1), cucumbers and tomato (0), italian drsg (0), hot pepper relish (0), kiwi yogurt (1), apple (1), granola bites (2), 100 calorie pack (2)
Dinner - lemon baked salmon filet at boston pizza (6) - from their alternatives menu. It was really really good... and LOW POINTS! it's the salmon filet and steamed veggies and mixed greens with a low fat raspberry vinegrette... according to the nutritional information on the website it's 6 points! And if I could count all 7 grams of fibre it would only be 5 points!
Snack - 100 calorie cookies (2)

Happy Hump day! I will cross my fingers we all get our exercise in!
