Back in the saddle

This may be cut short... my computer is acting all slow and annoying tonight. I thought I'd start the week off right and post a photo of Simon from the weekend!

I'm with Tara - I'm happy to still be able to give Simon back at the end of the day. I'd love to have him for a weekend... but I'm sure by the end of it I'd be ready to sleep for a week! Even after an afternoon/evening on Saturday Alex was totally exhausted!

I managed to get on the treadmill today and it felt great! It helped my mood so much and wasn't near as difficult as I anticipated after being sedentary for a week now.

Food today:
BF - weight control oatmeal (2), strawberry yogurt (TARA - I love all of the flavours too!!! I'm just a dolt who bought yogurts that expire TODAY!!! I will be eating a lot of yogurt over the next few days!)(1)
Lunch - 1 tbsp hummus (0), cheese slice (1), chicken breast (1), cottage cheese and fruit cup (2)
Snacks - dill pickles (0), carrots (0), 2 tbsp W&B hummus (1)
Dinner - lettuce (0), chick peas (2), cheese (1), cucumber and tomato (0), 2 tbsp hot pepper relish (0), 1 tbsp italian drsg (0), yogurt (1), apple (1)

I still didn't eat a lot today because at times I felt funny still (from my illness yesterday)... Tomorrow I'm going out to dinner with a friend for her big 30th birthday... I'm sure I'll eat more then (wish me luck!)

I'm alive (barely - my body hates me!)

Last night and today are my wake up call from my body... It's telling me it HATES me and is sick of just how much crap I've been eating for a week straight now. Last night when I went to bed I took sick and haven't been able to stomach anything more than some bread today (although I'm hungry, I know well enough to know I canNOT eat yet).

I did heed my own prior advice to Tara and went grocery shopping and bought healthy food... I got lettuce, tomato, cucumber (for all my salads) and baby carrots... and frozen stuff (broccoli, green beans, peas, baby potatoes). I bought strawberries and apples and unsweetened apple sauce. I bought new yogurt I'm excited to try (it's the Danone stuff with the clear containers... but it's new exciting flavours! I'm not one for the regular peach and blueberry and raspberries. I like strawberry yogurt and then odd yogurts... the source dessert selections or exotik selections. Today I bought a yogurt container with strawberry flavour, mango, pineapple, and kiwi flavours!). I bought my fat free cottage cheese and fruit cups. I bought cheese slices, cheese strings (no cream cheese - they didn't have any of the light ones in!!!), low fat deli chicken breast, wendy and barb's hummus and baba ganoosh. I got more Italian dressing (but bought calorie wise instead of fat free... did you know they have the same amount of calories? i didn't!), hot pepper relish, more DILL PICKLES (yay)... and tahini and chick peas to attempt to make my own hummus at a later date (although I'm sure I won't enjoy it as much as wendy and barb's).

So there you have it... that's $60 worth of groceris right there (not bad i think!).

You haven't seen me in the last few days because I hadn't been devoted to being OP and doing my exercise... thereby avoiding my blog as well. BUT, I'm back now. Although, today I can't get activity in (I also can't get food in).... I'm hoping by tomorrow I can get back at it.

Last night/yesterday was actually spent in Hamilton babysitting Simon! Michele hadn't been out with Jacob and without Simon since the fall... and last night was only their THIRD time out since he was born. Long overdue and I think they loved it. Michele has already asked if they can bring him here so the 2 of them can have a day out sight seeing in Toronto once the weather is nicer (hell YES!!! please give him to me!!). He was a perfect angel... didn't cry once and fell asleep after only a couple of minutes of rocking him (although I kept rocking him longer to enjoy more cuddle-time). Alex fed him his dinner (chicken, yams and carrots) and that was his first time feeding a baby... he did awesome (both of the boys did awesome - Simon and Alex!).

Okay, I have to go back to the kitchen. I've decided to help my week be a much better one I'm going to put together lunches and dinners today for the whole week.

Oh, did I also mention I've signed up for a cake decorating course at Michaels??? It starts next Tuesday and runs 4 weeks... I can't wait! I'll hopefully enjoy it and take the other 3 levels after this one and make Simon the best first birthday cake I can possibly make for him!!!

Happy Sunday (day of rest at my place)

Back to Update:
I managed to make all of my salad toppings for the week (you see, I mix all of the stuff that goes on the lettuce in a separate container and keep the lettuce dry in its own container and then dump the toppings on the lettuce at work... because it's okay if they're wet/soggy). The containers are either chick peasor tuna with cheese, cucumber, tomato, hot pepper relish and 1 tbsp of italian drsg. My yogurts are all ready to go and so are my apples. I've also put dill pickles in separate containers for each lunch! I grilled some balsamic chicken breasts and will cook vegetables to go with it for dinners this week. There - healthy food is here again!

I also managed to eat a bit more today... 2 pieces of ww toast with a cheese slice and a slice of deli chicken breast.... then later when i realized i could stomach it... i had cheez whiz and chicken breast in a flatout wrap.

There's my day in a nutshell... I will feel much happier again once I can get some exercise in. I'm still hoping for a loss this week (and every week... i will have weddings here before i know it!!!)

Final Answer

My final decision has been reached. I will NOT be going to WI tomorrow. I know I will be up and I decided a 'freebie' week is in order. NOW, typically when I am absent for a week I still do not manage to be DOWN (in weight) the week I go back. I now recognize this is a pattern and I vow not to let that happen. I have verbally contracted with Alex to NOT have my cheat night tomorrow night (since I won't be going to WI).

I slept in this morning and didn't get home until a little while ago... so, no activity today. My new week starts TOMORROW morning and I'll get on the treadmill!

Not much else to report... I'll go back to recording my food tomorrow! (Big brother is on now, so I must go!).

I came, I saw... I ate it ALL

Do the words "Well Judy, you did it. She's FINALLY full!" mean anything to you? That would describe my Easter... I ate and ate and ate and at some point I felt more full than I ever had... then the feeling subsided and I ate more. The good news is it was only a couple of days (unlike Christmas where it was an entire week of eating). The good news is also... I know this week I'll be up, but next week I'll be back down.

The worst part is trying to get back off of the sweets train... Once I eat as many sweets as I did this weekend it's hard for me to get back to eating healthy. I tried to do it cold turkey today... but I found my way to a million different 100 calorie packs and odds and ends today.

Tomorrow morning it's time to get back on the treadmill and tomorrow night will *hopefully* be biggest loser workout night.

Biggest Loser is on now but I just got home and I've missed the first 45min, so I will watch Big Brother instead and tape BL on the west coast channel and watch it on the treadmill bright and early in the morning!

I hope everyone had a great Easter! Aside from food... mine was wonderful. Simon's first Easter was great... he loved it! The whole family seemed to get along really well again for a change... we spent much of the day toboganning down my parents massive hill/trail in the back yard and everyone had tons of fun!!!

I'll be back tomorrow to report on my exercise AND healthy eating. I know this week's WI will be a write-off... but there's no reason why I can't start working towards next week's WI now!

The Results!

I'm back to update on my activity. I'm not doing as much as I had hoped today. I did my cardio biggest loser workout and now I'm going on the treadmill... then I'm calling it a day for activity! I have to run errands and get stuff for the easter dinner... so the treadmill will be the end of my activity.

I've eaten a flatout wrap with egg whites (2) for breakfast and for lunch i had cottage cheese (2) with tomato and cucumber (0) and an apple (1). Yes, I'm saving up my points for a big old sub for dinner and for tasting my baking!!!

Back to update - I was down 0.4lbs. I have no idea how... but I will take it! Tonight I ate dinner from the foodcourt and have eaten about a million pounds of baking stuff. I feel like I'm going to explode. I think I accomplished that "high calorie meal" Bob mentioned on last week's BL episode!!!!! The cupcakes are baked, half of them are filled. I'm going to put the icing on them once I'm in Pontypool. I think I'm done for tonight... tomorrow I will attempt my cheesecake tarts i've dreamt up! I think I'm ready for BED!!! I'll finish filling the chocolate cupcakes (with peanut butter) and tidy up for bed.

Goodnight!

Hump Day

I don't know why I'm so tired yesterday and today. I dozed off in the tanning bed on my lunch even!

There's not much to report today. Got up, went on the treadmill for 45min, went to work, came home. I didn't get my BL workouts in tonight. I started to do the cardio one, but 10 minutes into it I just about collapsed... so tired! Plus, my legs are still sore from yesterday's workout. Blah. The bright side is I have tomorrow off so tonight I can get a good night's sleep and do a good 'last chance workout' tomorrow morning. The afternoon will be spent getting groceries so that immediately following WI tomorrow night I can start baking cupcakes and a dessert tart recipe I've been thinking about trying (I've been inventing it in my head for a week!). I'm NOT going to bake until AFTER weigh in just so I can avoid any temptation to EAT any baking!!! (go me!).

Unfortunately, I gave in to many of my cravings tonight. Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast - oatmeal (2), yogurt (1)
Lunch - salad with tuna (1), cheese (1), hot pepper relish (0), yogurt (1), apple (1), 100 calorie hostess cupcakes (2)
Snack - granola bites (2)
Dinner - flatout (1), egg (2), egg whites (0), cheese (1), cottage cheese and fruit cup (2), ww cake (1), ww oatmeal raisin cookie (1)... FUDGE (4) - damn fudge. I can't believe I gave in again... I will work that off tomorrow!

Good luck tomorrow everyone! I will be posting my accomplishments throughout the day. Now, I shall change my template (since St Patrick's day is OVER) and head to bed.

Tired Tuesday

Well, as much as my only desire today seemed to be SLEEPING... I still got MOST of my exercise in. I went on the treadmill for 45min this morning then tonight did 40min of my BL cardio max. I didn't have time to do my 'power sculpting' dvd. My hunt has begun for a birthday gift for my nephew. I want something very specific and have decided I must buy it now because it will only be harder to find once spring/summer comes... I want to buy it now and return it later should I decide I want to get him something else. Wouldn't you know it? I'm so picky that it's already hard to find. Alex and I began shopping after work today (with no avail) and I will look on my lunch tomorrow. Anyway, by the time I got home and ate dinner and talked on the phone with my cousin... i only had time for the cardio max dvd. I'm on to level 2 of the dvd and it is KILLER. I'm NOT a big fan of Jillian while doing her added 10 minutes (the level 2 component).

Anyway, here's what I ate today
BF - oatmeal (2), smart bran 1/3c (0), yogurt (1)
Lunch - a tuna concoction with lettuce (0), tuna (1), cheese (1), and hot pepper relish (0). applesauce (1), apple (1), cup a soup (1)
Afternoon moment of complete weakness - FUDGE (4). I made fudge with walnuts and a peanut butter filling on the weekend (for easter). I ate some of it today. I felt very remorseful afterward and very guilty... I try not to eat stuff like that during the week. Alex finally got annoyed and basically told me to get over it, that eating 2 small pieces of fudge will not necessarily make me gain went on thursday.
Dinner - veggie patch portabella burger (2), cheese slice (1), steamed vegetables (0), cottage cheese and fruit cup (2), SF pudding (1)
Snack - hummus (1), flatout (1), lettuce (0),cheese (1)

Did anyone else get the latest What's Cooking magazine? Did you see crystal light singles (in canada) has new flavours?? including CHERRY POMEGRANATE?? I MUST get some!! I think i would LOVE IT!!!

Happy hump day... my last day of work for 5 days! Woohoo!!

One down, two to go

Back to the grind today... Luckily this is only a three day work week for me and then next week is a short week as well. April is shaping up to be a LONG month at this point (no long weekends). I feel a sick day in there somewhere!

Well, as much as I didn't want to... I got back on the exercise bandwagon today. I increased my BL workout (cardio) to 40min from 30min (I'm now on 'level 2'). It was killer. Jillian does the added 10 minutes and I wanted to jump in the tv and strangle her. I also got on the treadmill for a mere 30min this morning before work.

The highlight of my day was TANNING after work. I'm up to 2-3 times a week (side note: the lady who owns my tanning salon is Mandy Wright's mother! Remember her from high school, Tara?). Tanning is a nice way to end a Monday. It also meant not getting home until 8:45... too late to do my other BL workout. Oh well, tomorrow!

Here's what I ate today:
BF - ww toast (1), egg (2), cheese slice (1)
Lunch - flatout (1), ff italian (0), cheese (1), lettuce (0). veggie patch garlic portabella burger (2) - leftover from costco in the freezer and must eat them before i break open my new veggie burgers! hot pepper salsa (0), unsweetened applesauce (1), hostess 100 cal (2)
Snack - carrots (0), hummus (1), ww caramel cake (1)
Dinner - salad with tuna (1) and cheese (1) and balsamic spray (0), apple (1), yogurt (1), 100 calorie chocolate covered pretzels (2), WW oatmeal raisin cookie (1)

Another run for the border (after a LAZY weekend)

So... no activity this weekend. Was feeling like crap last night and today didn't have time. Oh well, I'll get back at it tomnorrow. PLUS, I'm off on Thursday, so I'll do a 'last chance workout' before WI thursday evening!

So, I went shoppin in the states today... Got some flatout bread, 100 calorie hostess cupcakes, 100 calorie packs, morningstar farm veggie burgers... AND... NEW CRYSTAL LIGHT FLAVOURS! Yep! We have a peach mango green tea (that claims to increase your metabolism), natural raspberry peach (to aid in your digestive health), natural citrus splash (with caffeine to enhance mental energy), and WHITE GRAPE (possibly my new favourite! so good!!!). I also bought a sugar free kool aid 'tropical punch' flavour!

More exciting news from the states... I got to bath and body works and they have a new scent 'enchanted orchid'... and since i'm a 'flower scent' girl, i was thrilled with it!

We actually didn't have much of a wait at the border (considering it's the sunday of march break)... AND the people were all very NICE! this is a very new experience for me at the border! maybe my luck is changing. on top of it all... they didn't make us pay duty on groceries. just my bath and body works stuff! all in all, a very good experience today.

Now, to get back to routine... and lot's of exercise for the rest of the week. I would like to lose 8lbs over the next 2 weeks... not very likely considering easter is in there... but something to strive for!

Have a great week everyone!

FRIDAY!!

WOOHOO!!! We made it! I am actually posting this from.. well, let's just say I'm NOT at home. I am where I usually am from 9am to 5pm on a Friday.

The day has not started out as I had hoped. I forgot to turn my alarm on last night before I went to bed... so, I slept in this morning and was not able to go on the treadmill. I was kind of disappointed actually. Oh well, I will make up for it this weekend. Although I don't know if I'm working Saturday evening. I was offered a shift, but because I wasn't feeling so great last night when she called I asked her if I could think about it. I would LOVE the extra money... but just feel like I have too much to get done this weekend, and Sunday is already a write-off for me with going to the states. I'll think about it this evening and call back with a decision.

Today I've eaten:
BF - weight control oatmeal (2)
Lunch - flatout (1), 1 tbsp garden cream cheese (1), 2 turkey slices (1), spinach (0), yogurt (1), apple (1)
Dinner - ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!! We're going to Maison Du Japon in Markham
