I ♥ Cake

Breakfast today was absolutely perfect. I urge everyone to try it. I don’t know what it’s called so I’m just calling it a breakfast cake.

I took 1/2c oats (2) and 1/2c egg whites (1), stirred in 1tbsp natural PB (2) and mixed it all up then put it in the microwave for 1 1/2min (or so).  When it was done I flipped it out of the bowl and onto a plate and drizzled honey on it… only a teeny bit, (0)

Voila!

DSCN6238 DSCN6239

Snack after getting to work was also awesome. Red Bull smoothie! I took some mixed frozen berries (1) and some ice (0), 1 can of sugar free red bull (0) and some stevia (0).  I also ended up having to add some water…

Voila!

DSCN6242

Lunch was a spinach salad with light cheddar (2) and some Italian dressing (0)

DSCN6243

Followed by some brown rice (3) and some mish mash veggie hash (3)

DSCN6246 DSCN6247

Snack was an apple cinnamon protein cake (more cake?).  It was made with egg whites, 3tbsp (0), 1tbsp sugar free apple butter (0), 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (2) and cinnamon and stevia. Looks gross, tastes great.

DSCN6250

I ended up at work late and came home at 7pm STARVING. I made a veggie burger with a ONE bun (2), portabello burger (3), light mozzarella (2) and some hummus (1) and spinach (0)

DSCN6251 DSCN6253

It was followed by popcorn (3) and THEN followed by a tbsp of chocolate chips (2) and a tbsp of PB (2) melted together. Yep, I came home starving and I binged.  Tomorrow won’t be the same.

Did everyone enjoy Biggest Loser tonight? Why do the marathons always make me cry?  Perhaps it’s because I secretly dream of doing one one day. Ha.

You may wonder why I talked about joining Goodlife (gym) but haven’t posted about actually going there!  You see, my employer only does the employee memberships once a month and I missed it for May… so I have to wait until June. Wait… maybe I did explain that the other day?  I forget!

Off to bed! Happy hump day to all!

Am I a Vegetarian?

I had my friend staying with me last week. I thought she might be here a while, but she ended up only being with me for a couple of days!  In anticipation of her being here I had bought a bunch of vegetarian food (because she is vegetarian and I enjoy some good soy and tofu products myself).

I made a pot of slow cooker taco soup and used Yves Veggie Ground Round in place of any ground beef or chicken.  It turned out really good and I saved a bunch of points!   I had a package of the veggie ground left in my fridge yesterday so I made something I have decided to call “mish mash veggie hash”.  It was veggie ground (whole package), onion, peas, carrots and a tin of beans in tomato sauce.  Nothing crazy spicy but it struck me as comfort food and quite filling (over brown rice too).  It works out to be 3pts for 1 cup.

Today consisted of recovering from a late night last night (and an exhausting shift at job #2 working with a girl who tried to commit suicide by taking over 100 pills and chasing it down with oxyclean). I was SO tired this morning. I even slept in until 9am!

Breakfast was a bagel (2), pb (2) and honey (0)

DSCN6229

Lunch was 1c brown rice (3) covered with 1c of my mish mash veggie hash (3)… looks pretty gross, no?

DSCN6231

Snack at work was some mango… this is an old photo from last week though, not today (1)

DSCN6203

Dinner was 2c veggie taco soup (4) – the picture is HORRIBLE. I took it while on the phone at work.

DSCN6237

It was followed by some delicious mixed berries (2)… I can’t wait for berries ALL SUMMER LONG!

DSCN6233

I also had an apple but didn’t take a picture of it (1)

When I came home I was hungry… I had a ww bagel (2) with mozzarella cheese on half (2) and a little bit of PB on the other half (1)

Glad Monday has been put to rest. I took Friday off so I only have 3 days left of work this week. Thank God!

I am alive!

I am still alive! Things have just been really busy. All is back to normal now though. I am still tracking and weighing in on my own at home. I was up just over 2lbs this week! Eek!

I am in love with my iPhone and use it all the time. I am also posting from it now! I doubt I will do it again though as the free version won't allow me to upload pictures.

I have decided to join goodlife gym. Thanks to job #2 I get a pretty sweet discount. $30 a month for an all access membership! I can't join until June because my work only does memberships once a month. So, now I must get my butt in gear and exercise at home until then. Perhaps get at couch to 5k week 5! I couldn't treadmill it last week for various reasons an my own laziness.

This post is boring thanks to no pictures. I am back to taking pictures and will try to post tonight!!

Change can be good

I woke up today and out of the blue made a big decision. I realized I did not WANT to go to Weight Watchers. I realized I haven’t wanted to go for a while. While I really believe in their program and have done well on it… let’s be honest. I’ve been going for almost FOUR years and have not reached goal weight. I have spent a lot of money going there.

I was going to do a post today asking for your opinions, but realized I had already made my decision.

Here’s the new plan…

Stop paying to go to weight watchers, BUT continue doing it at home. I will weigh in every Thursday morning and change my ticker (on my blog… you can’t see it in google reader) to reflect that weight.

I have decided the area I am struggling with the most is exercise. I am going to take the money I will now NOT be paying weight watchers and use that money for a gym membership. (Now let the gym research begin. Fun!).

I *MAY* go back to WW as I get closer to goal weight because I really would love to be a lifetime member with them as motivation to KEEP the weight off.

So there you have it. These are the changes I am facing.

Can anyone in the GTA (or Ontario) tell me which gym is their favourite and how much it costs (roughly)?

In honour of NOT having to worry about going to weigh in after work, I joined my colleagues in a pizza lunch in honour of children’s mental health week!

Dinner was still my favourite Thursday dinner…

DSCN5871

Annnnnd… I have had a chocolate bar.

So… on to prove to myself (and all of you) that I CAN lose weight at home. Once I’m increasing my exercise I think it will be much better!

Please… give me your feedback! I’m leaning towards Goodlife right now, but that can change!

Hello beautiful!

I haven’t gotten permission but I think it’s okay…

Here’s baby Cami. She’s so wonderfully beautiful and cute… I am a proud mommy’s friend!

Thanks for your comments for my friend! I will be sure she sees them at some point.  It will be quite a LONG time before I get to hold this little pipsqueak… but I will patiently wait for my turn!  Right now only mommy and daddy are allowed to reach  in and touch her.

I will keep you posted on her successes and gains!!

May 5th, 2010. Big Day.

Today started out with some couch to 5K week 4. I decided to slow the speed down a bit from their suggested speed and it was MUCH easier. I think I will keep the speed slower until my ankles/shins adjust and then increase the speed later.

The day is a blur now because I found out one of my oldest friends and BFF had her baby GIRL!  She was born a wee bit early (27 weeks I believe) and is only 2lbs 1oz. She is doing well (they both are) but I’m only going by a message from my friend’s sister at this point. I can’t wait to talk to my friend. I just hope she is doing okay (emotionally)… but I know the baby will be great. I can’t wait to meet her.

I couldn’t even tell you the rest of my day.

I forgot to take food pictures.  There was another smoothie that looked like this:

DSCN6187

There was a salad with shrimp that looked like this:

DSCN6189

Some vanilla greek yogurt was in there… and carrots too.

Dinner was this:

DSCN6200 DSCN6201 DSCN6202

There was also some chocolate chips/PB mixture for dessert… and then 1/2c chapman’s rocky road fro yo.

Sorry I haven’t posted points. I will go back to doing that on Friday (or the weekend if I don’t post Friday)!!

I have a favour to ask. My friend who just had her baby reads my blog. If you’re able to… I would LOVE if you could post a comment with your well wishes, thoughts, prayers, happy thoughts, etc for her and her baby girl.  Thanks so much (in advance)… you are all awesome!!! My friend is a wonderful person who deserves all the best and I know any positive vibes will help her (and I will be sure to have her read this post once she has a moment one day!).

May the 4th be with you

Happy Luke Skywalker day to all (okay, so it was yesterday… but I’m writing my May 4th post a day late).  So… May the 4th be with you.

When I last left you I was going to bed. I went to sleep and was awake an hour later and couldn’t get back to sleep. Frustration!  No jog in the morning… and dragging my a$$ all day at work.  Came home to relax and watch the Biggest Loser makeover episode!

Breakfast was a green smoothie

DSCN6193

Snack was strawberries

DSCN6195

Lunch was a frozen dinner

DSCN6196 DSCN6197

PM snack was a yogurt/granola mixture

DSCN6199

Dinner has no photos… but it was chicken breast, crackers and cream cheese. Very random! I had a sweet tooth so I had some PB and chocolate chips on a big spoon!

Half way

It’s May 3rd. I have officially been 31 years old for 6 months. I still have 6 more months to go before I turn 32.  I hope it doesn’t go too quickly!

Today started out with the Couch to 5K week 4.  This is week 4, volume 2. I decided my shins were still hurting too much. They were hurting yet again today. I think there are a couple of reasons. 1 – physically, I can’t go more than a couple of days without jogging. 2 – psychologically, I think I need to relax more when I jog and just enjoy it rather than focus on shin pain. I think that’s when I don’t just relax my ankle and I thump my foot down… and then my shins hurt.  In order to help out today I decreased my speed. The couch to 5K suggests a speed to go, but I think it was too fast for what I’m ready for at this point.

Breakfast was skipped (oops) because time flew. Bad girl.

Brunch was 3 lettuce wraps (0) with a chicken breast (2) and some cream cheese (1) and a few pieces of shrimp (0)

DSCN6182 DSCN6186

Snack was a smoothie with some mango, strawberry and banana (1), greek yogurt (1), and honey (1)

DSCN6187

Dinner was a salad with veggies (0), shrimp (1) and light cheddar (2).  An old favourite dressing reappeared too – 1tsp EVOO (1), balsamic vinegar (0), frank’s (0) and garlic (0)

DSCN6189

Followed by some strawberries (1), vanilla greek yogurt (2) and some kashi toasted berry cereal (1)

DSCN6191 DSCN6192

Not pictured is 1 1/2 pieces of banana bread brought in by a colleague (5?)

I had every intention of doing yoga when I got home tonight but by the time I got home, made lunch/snacks for tomorrow and did the dishes… I must now go to bed!

Happy Tuesday!

May Day 2

Happy May 2nd!

Sunday involved visiting with my dear friend in the hospital.  Do you have a friend who you wish you could just make everything better for them?  I do. She doesn’t deserve the struggles she is having. At least she isn’t far and I can visit.

I spent the morning visiting and despite not having eaten, still didn’t feel hungry come 2pm when I got home.  Although, my stop at the grocery store may have me think otherwise… all of the food looked good, but I didn’t want to eat any of it (just buy it to make it later).

When I got home I had a PC thins (3) with some spinach cream cheese (1)DSCN6175

Followed by some popcorn… with becel spray (3)DSCN5909

Not pictured… a Larabar and strawberries (5)

Dinner… it was a frozen dinner.  Have you seen these?

DSCN6181

I know frozen dinners break the cardinal rules of healthy eating… but this one doesn’t seem to have quite as many terrible ingredients.  It was (5) points and this is what it looked like cooked:

DSCN6178 DSCN6179

I also had a spoonful of coconut liberte (1), snacked on some mary’s crackers (2) and cream cheese (2)… and then had a spoonful of pb (2) with some chocolate chipits (2)

May Day

So… this post is for May 1st. I had some errands to run and stuff to do while fighting a headache, but here’s pictures of my food on the first day of May 2010.

Breakfast was a whole wheat pita with PB, Greek yogurt and some honey on top (5)DSCN6165

Lunch was a one bun (2), portabello burger (3), mozzarella (2), stir fry veggies (0)DSCN6167DSCN6168DSCN6170

Lunch’s dessert was some plain greek yogurt (1) and 1tbsp honey drizzled on top (1)DSCN6172

Dinner was a vegetarian taco salad. Points value is unknown but I estimate the following: lettuce (0), black beans (1), guacamole (2), corn (0), salsa (0), mozzarella (2), plain greek yogurt and green chillies I added at home later (0)DSCN6173

And to satisfy our sweet tooth later… there was this…DSCN5385
