Craptacular Monday

What a freaking day.

I was far too cocky earlier. My day started out with finding out our office had a flood. No power. No work. Supervisor said we might have to go work elsewhere, but she really didn't think it made sense. I offered to just take a sick day... fast forward a couple of hours, after I think I've got the day off... Nope, have to go to Markham to the corporoate office where a make shift office has been set up. SUCKS. BUT, only have to work 4-8. THEN I get a text from a coworker... power back on in Whitby, I might have to go out to Whitby from 4-8 (during rush hour?)... THEN my supervisor calls... nope, still in Markham... and in fact she wants me to try to come in early. Can you see me rushing???

I was so pissy about work I totally didn't go on the treadmill. No jog. The good news is I did get a jog in on Friday and Saturday... so, my 2 days off will be yesterday and today. Back to jogging tomorrow morning and walking on lunches tomorrow. I still have hopes for this week's weigh in... I haven't lost my motivation!

Here's today's nutritional information...
breakfast: 1/2c skim milk coffee (1)
Lunch: 2 flatouts (2), 1/2c low fat refried beans (1), cheese (2), lettuce and salsa (0), fruit bites (2)
Snacks: motivate bar (4), wasabi peas (2)
Dinner: larabar (4), roasted soy beans (2)
Total: 20
Water: 2L... not good. Trying for more, but don't know how easily i will be able to get to a washroom at work tonight!

I may be back later... if not, tomorrow is a new day with the BL finale!!! GO MIKE!!! I have voted... have you?

**I am back to add that work wasn't great... it was a rather pissy day, I will spare you the political issues. I stopped to get some groceries on the way home. I went to Longo's... spent mega bucks at their salad bar. Lunch for tomorrow is taken care of (healthy, colourful, fun). A guy in the parking lot was stuck and needed money for gas. I gave him $10. I'm such a sucker. I got home and was starving... I had 2 pieces of shrimp and some kalamata olives... hunger satisfied. Now I watch the next 20min of of the hills and go to bed. Have I mentioned I can't wait for BL tomorrow night? We have to work in Markham again tomorrow. Such a pain. I already can't wait for tomorrow at 5pm!!**

Happy Tuesday!

What Have I Done?

Congratulations to me. Apparently I am still human... and I have cravings!

Yesterday had the potential to be a stellar day... watching my food, maybe biking with Kristen. Well, things did not go according to the hopeful plan. I wanted CHOCOLATE yesterday and it was too windy to go biking.

Michele and I took off to Peterborough to do grocery shopping, then home to make brunch, then down the hwy 115 to take mom to pick out her planter flowers and hanging flowers as her mother's day gift, then out for a 90min walk through the woods with the whole family (note: Simon was walking too. I really didn't burn any calories. When you have a 23 month old walking through the woods - you go slow). I caved and ate things that are BAD for me... I'll get right to it and tell you what I ate...

Breakfast pizza was eaten for brunch AND dinner. It included multigrain crust, egg whites (on mine), turkey bacon, peppers, onions, skim milk mozzarella cheese. I figure it was aboug 14pts when all was said and done. I also had a chocolate bar with Simon and I think I ate most of it so I'm counting 6pts for that. I ALSO had a full cup of ice cream... another 6. Of course, I HAD to snack when I got back to my place at 10pm. I snacked on wasabi peas and some prunes and dates. I think it was about 4pts in total.
What's the damage? 31 I think. And only 2L of water.

The scale is punishing me today. Also, my body is punishing me for eating prunes last night. I'm waiting to feel a bit better before I start a jog...

The great news for today is that I'm not going to work. There was a flood at our office and the place is closed. Ah, the perks of working in an office sometimes. We are supposed to go find another place to work (another office)... but I have asked to just use a sick day if possible. I can use that opportunity to go grocery shopping, do some baking, FINALLY get to the bank... unpack from the weekend, take out recycling... it can be a very accomplished day (or I can just relax... but I won't).

I will be back tonight for my official "Monday" post.

ILive, from Pontypool... It's Saturday Night!!

Happy Saturday! I am coming to you live from Pontypool. I really do love that my mom has wireless and I have a latptop now. I can keep on top of my tracking/blogging... and have successful weekends in Pontypool. I have decided to make my "Easter Rules" apply for today and tomorrow. Same rules, different game... same outcome!

Today consisted of silently freaking out with the huge hail storm then packing and doing some cleaning... THEN I managed a little jog before driving here to Pontypool. I have managed to eat healthy today... with ONE treat (full fat dairy, an apparent necessity every now and again!).

Here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: 1c skim milk iced coffee (2)
Post jog: protein bar (4)
Lunch (on the road): wasabi peas (3), fruit bites (1)
Dinner: roasted chicken breast (5), spinach salad with cheese (2) and olive oil dressing (1)
Treat: 1c ice cream (6)
Total: 24... could be worse
Water: 3L

Overall, a good day. I have been able to play with Simon... that's always a good day! Today our games are 'zip aunt jen's hoodie up and down... over and over and OVER' and 'where is your laugh?'... (ask people "where's your laugh?" and then Simon and the person do a big laugh together).

Tomorrow Michele and I are running to Ptbo in the morning to grab groceries, then it's back home to make brunch for mom... then we are taking her to the flower place on the 115 to have her pick out flowers from all of us... and then just enjoying the sunny weather. Apparently if it's really nice Kristen is accosting me for a long biek ride with her (hey, it's activity I wasn't counting on for tomorrow, I will give it a try!).

I didn't even take any photos today. Tomorrow I will be sure to do so!!!

TGIF!

Well, technically it's Saturday... but it's still Friday to me. I was asleep earlier for a bit but Alex woke me up and now I'm wide awake (he is forgiven!). So, why not do a post?

Today involved a nice jog before work (yay me, I usually take Fridays off from jogging)... then a walk at lunch. The reward after the 5K walk was a nice crystal light slushie from the Esso across the street from the office. I LOVE that we have the calorie/sugar free (and 0pt!) option for a slushie now!

Tonight involved a nice dinner at Montana's, some errands... and some nice, relaxing alone time (with alex!).

Here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: ice coffee with 1/2c skim milk (1)
Post jog: protein smoothie (3)
Lunch: 1c quinoa (4), salsa (0), onions (0), cheese (2), dried fruit (3)
Dinner: vegetarian fajitas (10)
Total: 23 (not bad for a Friday!)

I think I will try to get some sleep now. Tomorrow is an early morning run to the grocery store, packing, jogging... and attempting to still be in pontypool around noon. Think I can do it?? We will see!!

It was bound to happen...

I was up.... after 10 weeks of losing, I had a gain this week.

I was up 0.6lbs. At least it's not even a pound.

Was it weighing in earlier? Should I not have eaten breakfast? Did the lack of walks this week make a difference? Who knows. It doesn't matter, I will have a loss again next week. I'm not upset by it all! I do think my regular weigh in place brings me good luck though!

I ate some dried fruit (bought a crap load of dry fruit, wasabi peas and soy beans at bulk barn after weigh in!) during a meeting. Ummm... prunes before a meeting? not a great idea. My stomach felt funny and I wasn't so hungry by dinner at the mall (food court) with steph. I ate frozen yogurt.... BUT then I did just eat a subway at 8pm for a late dinner after all. Oops!

This weekend may shape up to be a bit of a challenge... but I will come through it all on top!! I think my easter rules may have to apply!!! I'm already stressed a little because dad wants us all to go to pizza hut (in Lindsay) for dinner on Saturday... I know I can get edge veggie, but I feel bad... dad always wants to get the cheapest deal there is and I feel bad straying from the plan and then he ends up spending more money. I know he doesn't care... so, I will just get over it - I have to do what I've got to do to reach goal weight!

I was going to have my baked dill pickle chips I didn't eat last week... but I don't think I will. They will be saved for next week!!

Almost forgot... got on the treadmill for a nice jog this morning. Sprinted a bit even. I'm glad the shin pain seems to have disappeared. I have figured out I need to start my jog with smaller strides until my legs warm up... it totally works.

Happy Friday!

Biggest Loser!

Back again.

How could I forget to post about Biggest Loser?? I watched some of it this morning and the rest tonight. I have to say... I think it was the best episode of the season. It was so inspiring to see them at home and in their own environment... and the marathon? I may not be the biggest Ron fan... but how moving was it when everyone walked with him to the finish? I can admit it, I was crying.

I loved seeing them all back home and in regular clothes. Helen looked so much thinner again in her jeans and regular street clothes... it was definitely inpsiring.

Any predictions for next week? I think Mike will win the vote and either he or Tara will take it... but who knows!!

Another Hump Day

I will be happy when this week is over... I'm not working this weekend!! Of course the weekend is still very busy, but at least I'm not working.

Today was one of those days where I woke up and the sun was shining... it was beautiful. I had a little trouble getting going (I was tired from a long day yesterday) but I managed to get on the treadmill and enjoy it. It was one of those jogs I didn't want to end. I'm happy to report shin pain was GONE, I think I have solved that problem... I could have jogged another half marathon! Unfortunately, work was in order today. I went for nice little walk on lunch too. Tonight has consisted of some relaxing... and I will go to bed early!

Tomorrow will be a bit different. Steph and I are meeting for dinner after work so I am going to weigh in on my lunch hour. That means no 'last chance walk' at lunch. I don't expect much from the scale... but I will try to jog extra long in the morning just in case.

Here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: skim milk (2), smores luna bar (4)
Lunch: salad with 1/2c soy nuts (4), EVOO drsg (2), yogurt (1)
Snack: apple pie larabar (3)
Dinner: tuna (1), cheese (1), hummus (0), onions (0)... 2 balsamic portabello mushrooms with hummus and hot peppers (0), chocolate piece (1)
Total: 19
water: 4L

Good luck to Tara and I tomorrow!

I will leave you with some cute photos...

Missing Person

Have you seen this girl?

It's Tara!!! Where could she be? I hope she's okay and is just busy!! If you find her... there is a reward for her safe return to blogging!

Is it Tuesday?

Sorry so late... I just got home.

Today I was "not feeling well" and had to call in sick to work. Oh, also... Michele needed someone to watch Simon. I was sick from work, but not too sick to help out family. I spent every one of Simon's waking (and some sleeping) moments with him. We had lot's of fun playing outside and at the park...

I ate mostly healthy aside from the 1/4 cheese bagel (of Simon's) that I ate... and 2 chicken nuggets (frozen, not fast food).

I will post my food tomorrow. There was no activity today (besides walking and pushing Simon on his trike)... tomorrow it's back on the treadmill. So.... I must go to bed now. These nephews are tiring people!

I could go on and on about how cute Simon was... but I will spare you. We spent many hours sing the alphabet and 'twinkle twinkle little star'... he even sang them on the phone for alex and grandma and grandpa... Perhaps one of the cutest things was when I walked in this morning... he looked at me and said "Jen! Where's Ax?" ('Ax' is alex... by the end of the day he is usually saying 'alex'... it starts off as 'ax' though). I guess alex and I go together in his eyes.

Goodnight!!! I am taping BL on the west coast and watching it in the morning!

For the Love of Healthy Food!

Well... I am back! 3 whole days without a post from me. When is the last time that happened??

Let's recap the weekend, shall we? I know you're all curious to know where I've been.

Friday: Went in to work early, had a breakfast event at work, did some work, bought chicken pitas for Alex and I... came home and had pitas for dinner and watched Beverly Hills chihuahua (cute movie!). I also indulged in a cinnamon roll on Friday. Not healthy. Bad me. No jogging.

Saturday: A day OFF from both jobs. A day to myself. Ahhhh. A day of relaxation. No jogging. I did make a run to Ambrosia (my health food store). Look what I found...
I have to tell you... it is sooooo good! It tastes like a moist peanut butter cookie right out of the oven (minus being warm). I think it is my favourite Larabar (although, I do LOVE them all).

I came home and ate my favourite... sunshine in a bowl...
Later in the day I had dinner. I like to call it my "burrizza"... It's a burrito type pizza. I used a flatout, then some low fat refried beans, then salsa, red onions and cheese... Here is what it looked like:
Sunday was spent doing some grocery shopping and a jog before work. I decided to try something new (because apparently I have a 'bar' obsession lately).

I don't mind the Luna bar. I still prefer the Larabar though. The Luna bar is still 4pts and it reminds me more of a 'meal replacement' bar my mom would have eaten in the 80's and 90's. It's harder and a bit crunchier. I would buy them again, but will keep mostly with my protein bars and my larabars.

I also decided to buy another healthy snack...
They are crunchy and yummy! I think I will buy more at the bulk barn next time... as well as more wasabi peas!

I did some thinking on the weekend and decided to try something new. I decided to buy dark chocolate and allow myself 1-2 pieces a day. I hear there are some health benefits to dark chocolate (in moderation) and I'm wondering if eating a little each day will cut back on any sweets cravings that linger in me (although, I have to say I have significantly less cravings since trying to switch to my 'healthy' eating).
1 square is 1pt (and 2 squares are 2pts).

My challenge this weekend was to NOT eat last night when I got home (at midnight) from my sickkids shift. I am happy to report I managed to follow through... and the scale thanked me today by being 4lbs less than it was yesterday! Holy moly!! (side note: I also had some stomach issues this morning... so the results may not be the same tomorrow or Wed).

Today consisted of a 1hr jog and then going to work. My shin problems are rearing their ugly head again. Maybe it's the new shoes? Maybe it's me? I tried taking smaller strides today and that helped... by 1hr they didn't hurt anymore. Maybe my shins need me to warm up a bit longer in my new shoes... who knows. I will keep at it.

Here's what I ate today!
Breakfast: 1c skim milk (2) w/ instant coffee and davinci caramel (0) - yes, it was a cold coffee drink and not bad! sunshine in a bowl (2)
Lunch.. YUMMY lunch: ww toast (1), hummus (0), portabello mushroom marinated in balsamic and then cooked in PAM (0), cheese (2), lettuce and hot peppers (0), yogurt (1)
Snack: banana bread Larabar - YUM (4)
Dinner: salad (0) with 1/4c chick peas (1), 1/4c roasted soy beans - a nice crunch in the salad (2), EVOO balsamic drsg (2), yogurt (1), 2pc dark chocolate (2)
Total: 20
Water: 4L

My lunch sandwich... which was really yummy

Happy Tuesday! I am so sad to report I already know I will be 'sick' from work tomorrow. I do, however, feel well enough to go babysit Simon for the day (my sister needs someone as she has to work late and Jacob is out of town). I will leave here at 6am and likely not get home until 9 or 10... No jog tomorrow, but here's hoping for a nice walk with Simon. Pictures to follow!
