Accomplished.

Hello accomplished day number 2 (why do I hear Alex in my head giggling right now because I just said “number 2”?)

Wait. Should I backtrack to last night?  Inspired by Jaime's post full of confessions today, I feel the need to confess what happened last night. You see, I had been on my feet and cooking all day and didn’t eat a whole lot… but you would have thought my footlong sub for dinner would have satisfied me.  Nope. Went to bed early, but woke up at midnight STARVING.  What did I grab?  A kashi bar.  Long story short, I didn’t recognize when I was full, scarfed the bars down quickly… and ended up eating FIVE. Yep. FIVE.  Thank goodness for flex points.

This morning the scale did NOT appreciate the midnight binge last night.

Today found me starting week 2 of the Couch to 5K (after 1 week off). So far, so good. It felt great (for the most part) to be back at it.  Since I’m on a treadmill I definitely need something good on TV to cure my boredom.

Breakfast today was 1/2c homemade granola (2) and 1/2c unsweetened vanilla almond breeze along with 1/2 weight watcher bagel (1), 1tbsp light cream cheese (1) and 1 tbsp Crofter’s Asia (1)

Lunch was a portabello burger (3) in lettuce wraps (0) with some stir fry in low sodium soy sauce (1). Might not look like much, but it was quite tasty! I could have eaten twice as much!

DSCN5961 DSCN5962 DSCN5966 DSCN5971

It was followed by 1/2c greek Liberte (1), 1/4c Coconut Liberte (2) with a few sprinkles of coconut added for garnish (0)

DSCN5967 DSCN5969

Snack was some mango and blueberries (2)… they were still frozen in this picture!

DSCN5951

Dinner was some veggie soup (0) and turkey breast (2)

DSCN5952 DSCN5953 DSCN5954

(I was wrong yesterday saying the turkey I portioned out was 1pt… It’s 2pts!  Jury is still out on the soup. Turns out I’m still not really a cabbage fan… but I’ll keep trying!)

Dinner also consisted of veggies with 2tbsp supremely spicy hummus (2) and cucumbers

I got home from work, made breakfast, lunch and snacks for tomorrow, did the dishes and proofread an essay for the baby sister. It’s now 10:10pm. I was SO close to getting to bed by 10pm like I had planned.  Maybe next week!

Chicklet is frustrated that I’m not in bed yet too…

(okay, so the photo is really from the weekend… but she wants me to go to bed now, I can feel it).

My fellow Canadians

Listen up! Lynn is hosting a giveaway! She’s giving away awesome protein powder to 1 lucky Canadian. She reviewed it and has sold me on it.  I’ve recently discovered the versatility of protein powder and am now obsessed with wanting to try different flavours for different healthy creations.

So… visit Prairie Naturals for information on the product.

BUT… go visit This post by Lynn for more details.

Breakfast has been consumed, lunch and dinner have been made… now I am off for week 2 of the Couch to 5K!

Day of Rest?

I love days where I feel I’ve accomplished something. Today was one of those days.  It started out with getting up early and heading to the grocery store and Costco.  I came home and got to work on cooking. Not before having the other half of my sandwich from last night!

DSCN5927 DSCN5929

First came the Weight Watcher 0 point Vegetable Soup

DSCN5930 DSCN5932

I got the turkey breast into the oven…

DSCN5934 DSCN5935

The turkey was later cut up and pre-measured into 1pt portions in little zippy bags… some in the freezer and some in the fridge. Pre-weighed, pre-packaged… I’m all set!

Then I decided to take the extra vegetables and make a stir fry for some time this week… it has zucchini, mushrooms, red pepper, onions, celery and low sodium soy sauce

DSCN5933 DSCN5937

I also chopped up more vegetables and put some cucumber chips marinating in some vinegar and sea salt.  This was followed by another batch of homemade granola!

After all was said and done I was exhausted. I haven’t slept well this weekend. I got 5hrs of sleep Friday night and 4hrs last night. I had plans today to do all this cooking plus some loads of laundry, a jog (week 2 of c25k!) AND a cardio DVD… I didn’t get beyond the cooking. It took me until 6:30 to get it all done and by then I didn’t want anything I had made… so, I got my old faithful… turkey sub.

I bought a couple of other things today

DSCN5940

I haven’t bought these burgers at Costco in a LONG time. I have a couple in the fridge and the rest in the freezer. I can’t wait to add them to wraps and salads.

Also… got myself this!

DSCN5941

I admit it. I’m a total “chick” junkie. Give me a chick flick or some chick lit and I’m happy.  Poor Alex.

I’m sure I had other things today but I’m so tired I can’t keep my eyes open. I can’t wait for my head to hit the pillow… so I bid you adieu for tonight!  So long dear weekend… only 5 days until we find each other again.

OH!  Re: Amy’s burritos… I like them all equally! I think I sometimes buy the one without cheddar because it’s 1pt less than the one with cheddar… and I don’t notice a huge difference in taste!

Date Night & Sleepless in T.O.

What a great night! We decided to go straight to the movie and then have dinner afterwards.  We went to see Date Night!

(source)

So funny! We both laughed out loud throughout the whole movie.  I had packed snacks for us to smuggle in…

DSCN5921

After the movie we went to Z-teca. I had decided to switch up my burrito for a salad and was quite happy with my decision. While the website says they’re open until 10… they closed at 9 tonight and we were 10min too late to eat there.  After much contemplating we landed on Jack Astors.  We started out with garlic bread. White bread, butter, olive oil, garlic… it’s healthy, right?

(Yep, I had my camera with me tonight!)

We were STARVING by the time we were eating dinner. I ordered a chicken sandwich with spinach and goat cheese on focaccia bread.  I asked for a side baked potato (which wasn’t listed as an option for a side… but I asked, and I received!).  I got salsa on the side of the baked potato. The waiter thought I was a little odd, but that’s okay! My dinner:

I ate the potato and half the sandwich.

Well, it’s almost 4am and I suppose I should TRY to get some sleep.  Busy day tomorrow… see you then!

JERK!

No, this post is not about some mean boy who is a jerk. I have discovered a love for jerky!

First, I’ll tell you about what else I’ve eaten today.

Breakfast was a blue menu sandwich thins (3) with 30g light cheddar melted on it (2)… and some blue menu ketchup (0)

DSCN5906 DSCN5908

Lunch was quick and minimal effort.  9c popcorn (3), a mixture of greek yogurt and coconut yogurt (2) with 1/4 banana and some special k fruit crisps (2)

DSCN5909 DSCN5910 DSCN5911 DSCN5912 DSCN5916

A couple of hours later I was a bit hungry… so I reached for some turkey jerky (1) and some chicken nugget jerky (1).  So good!

DSCN5918 DSCN5919 DSCN5920

All of the protein did the trick for tiding me over until dinner at Z-Teca. I think this time I’m going to get the vegetarian burrito with lettuce instead of rice… and it comes with avocado and roasted corn. Mmmm!  Then, it’s off to see the movie Date Night.  I think I’m going to pack some snacks to possibly sneak in (don’t tell on me, okay?).  Some jerky and some sun rype mini fruit bites.  Salty and sweet!

It’s a technological MIRACLE!

So, a couple of months ago the mouse on my laptop stopped working. I plugged a mouse in to the side of it and just kept using the extra mouse until I could call someone like the Geek Squad and get it fixed. Today, on a whim, I unplugged the mouse and for some reason the laptop mouse is working! Crazy miracle!

Oops, my ride is here to take me to dinner. Going to be quick

Here’s today’s food thus far!

Afternoon snack: 1/2c Greek yogurt, 1/4c Coconut Liberte, 1/4 mashed banana, extra coconut extract and coconut for fun!  2ptsDSCN5901

Breakfast was these special K fruit crisps. Like a mini healthy pop tart snack. I love them. 2ptsDSCN5884 DSCN5885 DSCN5886

Morning snack was leftover smoothie. 2ptsDSCN5887 DSCN5888

Lunch was an Amy’s burrito. 5pts.DSCN5891 DSCN5892

Lunch was also puffed rice and 1/4c unsweetened chocolate almond breeze. NOT tasty. 1pt.DSCN5896 DSCN5897 DSCN5898

I am off for Sushi and a movie!  Happy Friday!
