Today resulted in a sick day. I am always harping on people to NOT come to work and spread their germs... I have to practice what I preach. Food still isn't totally agreeing with me and I couldn't get out of bed this morning. When I opened my eyes and I was supposed to be leaving for work in 5min, I knew I had to call in sick. I did manage to book a massage this afternoon. The lady practically beat the hell out of me. I thought I was going to come out of their black and blue and was in so much pain! The lady actually asked me if I have an injury or something because my back and shoulders were so messed up. WHAT?!? I stretch, I keep loose, I've never been in an accident... I think she was pulling my leg.
Today has been mostly clear fluids... but I have worked in solids. Here's what it's been:
BF - breakfast cookie w/ 1/2c oats (2), 1/2c pumpkin (1), 1tbsp almond butter (2), cinnamon and a few raisins (0)
*breakfast = bad idea* Tasted yummy. Tummy didn't likey.
Snack - apple (1), chicken broth (0), 2 slices ezekiel cinnamon raisin toast, dry (2)
Lunch after massage - tim horton's 12 grain bagel w/ light cream cheese (9!!!!)- wasn't sure of the points, was STARVING and didn't have any bagels at home
Dinner - chicken broth (0), apple (1)
Total: 18
Water: 2L - plus the water in the chicken broth!!
Time for bed. I've missed a lot of Biggest Loser because I was on the phone with a friend for over TWO HOURS!!!
Goodnight!!!

Blah
I'm so hungry... but my body is still rejecting food from yesterday!!! I feel like poop, so this morning is being spent lying on the couch and resting before I have to go to work.
I have eaten some pineapple and I'm eating some kashi vanilla cereal right now and hoping for the best!! I'm so hungry!!!
I think I should scrap the lentil chili that was planned for tonight's dinner at work. I'll have to come up with something bland to take instead. Brown rice is in order I think.
Happy Monday!!

RIP Great Weekend
Another weekend has come and gone. Oh what a great one it was. Today ended up being spent out running errands for the entire day. We ended up grabbing dinner on the road (lentil chili will have to be eaten another day!). I'm having tummy issues today though... my body is rejecting food!
I'm really tired and am just going to head to bed.
Cheers to a great week ahead.... may it fly by!!
Day 2 off from work!
I love having weekends to myself! I have already been to the grocery stores (superstore and costco) and done a few things around home... and now I'm heading out with Alex to run some errands.
Today (so far) via photo summary ...
Breakfast... a big bowl of sunshineAnd some 'raw revolution' organic bar. A girl at work gave me another flavour to try once and it wasn't so bad, so I bought one at Ambrosia yesterday. I can't say I care for this one. I only ate half (if that)Lentil chili currently in the slow cooker... and smelling good already! Some findings today... An entire CASE of Clif bars for only $9.99 at superstore! These things are normally around $2 EACH... this is a case of 12 of them! I had to take advantage of the sale.Kashi cereal from Costco... I've never tried this one before, but my rule is generally if it's Kashi... then I like it!

Note to self
Remember to try to get another amazing photo of hand-feeding the chickadees in Pontypool this fall! I've been going through old blog posts and found that photo. I love it. It's so sweet when these tiny little birds fly up to your hand and get the courage to take some seed from you. They are such light little things... they are so cute. I must do it again this year!
Snacky McMuncher
Out on my ventures today I ended up at Ambrosia. I likely shouldn't have gone there while I was hungry for lunch. I ended up leaving there with:
I was so excited to FINALLY find the peanut butter puffins! I ended up eating some chips AND some puffins on my way home... it was lunch.
I really haven't accomplished anything today. I love relaxing days, but I hate that I end up being totally lazy and not getting through my 'to do' list!!! I'm even about to watch 'the break up' on TV. I own it on dvd... but I'm too lazy to get up and put a movie in. I have tended to my tresses today though. I read online that putting olive oil on your hair helps it become softer... so, of course I tried it. I washed it out after a couple of hours... my hair is still wet, so I'm not sure if it's any softer. I also read online a couple of homemade leave in conditioner recipes. I bought some jojoba oil, vegetable glycerin and coconut oil (but was supposed to buy almond oil - got them mixed up) and made my own leave-in conditioner. You only put a half an oz of a couple of ingredients and 1/4oz of another one, then fill the rest of the container with water... I've done it and spritzed my hair with it after I got out of the shower... but like I said, my hair is still wet so I'm not sure if it's softer at all!
Today's food?
Breakfast: smart ones egg sandwich (4)
Lunch: sweet potato tortillas (4), peanut butter puffins (4), ww bread (1), cheese (2)
Dinner: 2 flatouts (2), refried beans (1), veggies (0), cheese (2), fruit bites (2)
Total: 22
Water: 2L - better have more!
Pop: 1 diet coke (can)
Food photos:
cheese sandwich heated up on the grill... yummy! I'm loving wraps and sandwiches done on the grill (foreman of course)!!Dinner (the flatout wraps... done on the grill too!)Tonight's task? MENUS! I need menus done so I know what groceries I'm buying tomorrow!!
Happy Saturday evening!
Enter FALL!
I know it's sad summer is over until next year... but I am feeling ready for fall! The entrance into fall is just so pretty! Just look at fall in Pontypool...
Bring on the cool weather and the nights of soup and tea!!
Remember Fall Harvest Soup?
So, today's plan is to just enjoy NOT working... perhaps a leisurely jog later, maybe a window shopping trip to Costco... who knows! I'll just enjoy a weekend off!
Last night was FREEZING at the Jays' game. The roof of the dome was open and my fingers were so cold I thought they would fall off! I ordered the healthiest dinner I could find. Chicken breast with grilled veggies on a white kaiser bun (white bread... but what can you do?). I added some ketchup, mustard and hot peppers. It was really good! Alex and I also shared a small bag of Miss Vickie's sea salt and malt vinegar chips... On the way home we stopped at Starbucks for a hot drink. ALL I could think about was a hot chocolate. I haven't had one in at least a year... it was sooooo good! I shouldn't have ordered it though... upon researching it when I got home I discovered my grande hot chocolate was
I'm off to get organized for the day. I had planned this week's menus a few days ago, but I took it to work and forgot it there... so today will involve planning menus and then tomorrow morning will grocery shop accordingly! Hooray for saving money!!
Happy Saturday!

Note to self...
Just as expected
Good luck? Yeah right...
Going to WW now... but I know I'm up. I just hoping NOT to be up all 3.4lbs I lost last week... but I'm not so sure right now.
It's been a heck of a long week and I want it over. I really really wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow... but I'll suck it up and go and enjoy 2 whole days off afterwards.
I'll come back with the news later on... maybe not until after Grey's is over though! I plan on enjoying my subway and some popcorn in peace and quiet!!!

The Scale NEVER Lies
This is what it's telling me...I'll be up this week. I deserve it. I can give you all the excuses in the world about being busy... but the bottom line is that I didn't have enough drive and didn't budget my time accordingly. I'll go to WI tomorrow, and will look upwards and onwards to next week. I have this weekend off from any and all jobs and aside from some errands with mon copain... I will be focusing on getting organized and ready for a successful week (which will include some R&R time!).
So, here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: breakfast cookie w/ oatmeal (1), banana (1), pb (2), protein powder (1)
Snack: pear (1)
Lunch: tomato (0), cucumber (0), edamame (1), red onion (0)... in vinegar w/ sea salt (0).... apple w/ cinnamon (1)
Dinner: big bowl of cereal and milk AGAIN... just like last Wed (7), crackers (2) and cheese (2)

Hunger City
I feel hungry today. The thing is... I know in order to lose weight, sometimes you do have to feel hungry. The scale has me up so far this week... I must allow myself to feel hungry.
Not that it should be every day's... but today's mantra is "Feeling hungry is my friend".... I will repeat it all afternoon and all night.
Really, I feel like my bed would be my best friend right now!

Why I don't jog at night
Why don't I jog at night? The answer is simple... It NEVER happens! Life gets in the way in the evenings. I like the freedom to stop at my "other" office (where I proudly hold the title of "Office Manager"... much to the dismay of the lawyer who runs said office). I also sometimes get calls in the evening and enjoy catching up with people rather than actually get on the treadmill (tonight it was Stacey... who is recovering from a rather painful operation).
I woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed today at 5:50am! The problem? I got doing other things 'quickly' before I jogged... before I knew it, I was running late. I also have to admit, I'm NOT enjoying jogging. My shins are hurting and I'm tired (the darkness in the morning isn't helping). I will keep getting up early and trying. I know it's hard to find your 'groove' after being off for a month. My shins need to be reconditioned into runners mode again... but I will keep plugging away. My new goal? That ticker above ↑ ... I want to reach it by Christmas and look GOOD for parties. My new challenge? Get weekends under control again... and get back to my hardcore activity.
So, last night I decided to make one of those yummy looking "Breakfast cookies" I've seen out there in blog land. It started with mixing 1/3c oats, 1tbsp natural PB and 1/2 scoop protein powder (I only have vanilla on hand). Then I mixed it all up and added 1/8c skim milk and 1/4 mashed banana... as well as a sprinkle of unsweetened coconut... then spread it out on a small plate to be like a big 'cookie' (and sprinkled cinnamon on it). You put it in the fridge over night and the oats soak up the moisture... then you eat it with a spoon in the morning. Maybe that's what got me springing out of bed this morning. I was excited to try it!! *crap. I had a photo of the finished product but blogger won't upload it*
On to what I ate today...
BF - breakfast cookie (4)
Snack - apple (1)
Lunch - 1/2c quinoa (2), edamame (0), veggies (0), tuna (1), yog (1), apple and cinnamon (1)
Snack - clif bar (5)
Dinner - egg (2), egg whites (0), cheese (3), veggies (0)

Happy hump day! I'm off to finish tomorrow's lunch, do the dishes... and get this big bum to bed!!

Hello, remember me?
Well, it's been a few days, hasn't it! The weekend totally escaped me. Shall we recap?
Thursday - down 3.4lbs at Weigh in! Enjoyed a celebratory sub afterwards. Chicken breast subs went up in price! They're THREE BUCKS more than the turkey breast. Back to turkey breast for me! Deli meat can't be that bad ONCE a week, can it?
Friday - Enjoyed the slow cooker mexican chicken stuff yet again! Photos...

The toppings (salsa, onion, corn, black beans)The mixture at the end of the day... chicken pulled apart. Looks gross, eh?All wrapped up, grilled, and ready to go with sour cream!!! Total points? 5!They were quite yummy yet again! Also, very filling! We later went to see "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" in 3D (thank you, scotia scene card - we don't pay for movies anymore!). It was awesome!
Saturday - Had to do some baking and go to a retirement dinner for an RN from 7A
Sunday - finished the bridal shower cake and delivered it to Whitby. Followed by working an evening shift on 7A. The cake was simple... just HUGE (enough to feed 130 people). Here's the final product:Today was a jog then off to work! I have to admit, I indulged more than I should have on the weekend... and I ate way more than I should have. Today I tried some damage control and ONLY ate fruits and vegetables (or, MOSTLY ate them). Here's what I ate:
Breakfast: strawberries (1)
Lunch: smoothie w/ frozen fruit (1), 1/2 frozen banana (1), spinach (0), amazing grass chocolate (0)
Snacks: apple w/ cinnamon (1), pear (1), another smoothie made same as before (2)
Dinner: salad w/ lettuce (0), tomato (0), cucumber (0), red onion (0), homemade dressing with EVOO (2), vinegar (0), mustard (0), frank's (0)... tomato (0) w/ sea salt (0), banana bread larabar (4)
Total: 13
Tonight I've been to Walmart (got more melatonin) and already made tomorrow's breakfast and lunch... and the dishes are done. Now I can retire to bed!!!

Hump day already??
The good news...what's that? You want MORE good news? Well.. where to start?
First, I managed a walk AND a jog today.
Next, I stayed on plan.
Also, I didn't eat past 7pm despite my insane craving for popcorn.
Lastly... We are over the hump of the week.
Okay, I'll throw in one more for you... The Biggest Loser is BACK and it's going to be a GREAT season. I can feel it!!
So, here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: smoothie (3) - no protein, but half a banana, so still 3pts
Snack: almonds (2)
Lunch: salad w/ 50g tuna (1), 30g light monteray cheese (2), lot's of lettuce and veggies w/ some black beans and corn (0), homemade dressing w/ 2 tsp EVOO (2), balsamic vinegar (0), garlic powder (0), frank's (0) - who else loves Franks?? I also had my new favourite apples w/ lot's of cinnamon.
Snack: pecan pie larabar (4)
Dinner: the plan was veggies and turkey breast. The result? A BIG HONKING BOWL of odds and ends of kashi cereals... maybe 1.5c... and 1c skim milk (7)
Total: 22
Water: 4L
No food photos today. I can't WAIT for tomorrow night's sub. Subway is SO much more enjoyable after a loss. I know I'll have a loss tomorrow... the next question will be how much I can lose. Maybe not the whole 7.2lbs I gained on my 4 week hiatus... but hopefully a few pounds of it! I also can't wait for Friday night's slow cooker chicken burritos! I will take photos this time!
So... I've been almost a week of eating loads of cinnamon on my cereal and apples (mostly on my apples). Have I noticed less sweet cravings? I actually have. Tonight I really really wanted salty (popcorn) or starchy (cereal... baked potato)... The true test will be PMS week... THEN we will see how I manage sweet cravings!!!

Oh HAPPY DAY!!
Oh yes friends... Biggest Loser is BACK! I'm just settling into the couch with a pillow and a blanket to watch it. I'm so happy!!!
Today started out with a lovely jog... followed by going to work, a lunch time walk at work, and then back home. Dinner has been eaten, tomorrow's lunch has been made, and all dishes have been washed. I'm sooooo ready to relax and enjoy Biggest Loser. I may even enjoy the last hour of it in bed.
Here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: 1/2c kashi honey puff cereal (1), 1/2c kashi shredded wheat cereal (1), 1/2c skim milk (1)... sprinkled with cinnamon

We have 1c frozen mixed fruit (1), 1 container yogurt (1), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (1), 1/4 frozen banana (0), 1/2 scoop chocolate amazing grass (0), sprinkles of hulled hemp seeds and chia seeds (0) - do you think I pack enough into that shake? Oh... and can't forget the spinach!!!
Lunch: 1/2c quinoa (2), steamed turkey breast (3), mixed frozen veggies (0)... apple with cinnamon (1), yogurt (1)
Snack: chocolate chip clif bar (5)
Dinner: egg (2), egg whites (0), mixed veggies (0), tomato (0)

Tonight's food porn...
I have come to LOVE my apples and cinnamon.... which comes in handy as we enter apple season. I use my apple cutter to cut the apple (apple cutter = GREAT, cheap investment). I put the cut apple into a container and sprinkle TONS of cinnamon on... then shake it up to coat the apples. I'm able to cut the apple the night before and store it in the fridge... and they're kept crispy with the cinnamon on them!!!
I will leave you with a quote I found online and thought it was cute (click to enlarge I think)... It's cute... but Alex and I both still love our sleep!!!

Still sitting pretty
Sitting pretty on my saddle that is (see yesterday's post).
I managed to get up at 5:50am today. I managed to get in a nice, early jog. Part of me wanted to cry and go back to sleep... part of me thought it felt great. Now... later, I still feel great. I'm on the right track for Thursday! Yay!
On this eternal path of self discovery... I have come to realize (and may have mentioned it before) that my weight loss comes to a grinding hault as soon as I put a strict timeline on myself. Last summer with the weddings, last fall with the wedding... this summer with the vacation. No more timelines! No more pressure!!!
Time to start preparing for Thanksgiving!!!!
Dear one reader who remains: Shall we try for the same 'rules' at Thanksgiving that we had for Easter? I need you!!! (no pressure of course!! haha!).
I'll be back later to update my food for today... so far, so good! I shall remember the rule tonight - no eating past 7pm. Tea for me if I need a 'treat' later!

error!
Oops. I said I changed my blog to reflect fall... I forgot, I decided NOT to have a fall look yet.... i changed my look... just not to a 'fall' look yet!
Back in the saddle (again!)
Well... back to my regular Mondays.
Today started off with sleeping in a wee bit, followed by some breakfast, a morning jog... then off to work. I also enjoyed watching some of the new Dr. Oz show. I like when I catch him on Oprah... so I'm joyed to watch his show. Today's premiere lived up to my expectations. I have so much to learn from that man!
I have come home from work tonight and am proud to announce that I have not eaten anything. Back to the 'no eating after 7pm' rule (for *most* of the week)!
Here's what I ate today...
Breakfast: ww toast (1), egg (2)
Lunch: 1c ww pasta (3), tuna (1), cheese (2), red onion (0)
Snack: green smoothie (3), apple cut up with loads of cinnamon (1) - hello apple season! And hello to cinnamon, something Dr. Oz says will help with sweet cravings!
Snack #2 during a meeting: chocolate peanut crunch Clif bar (5) - enjoying Clif bars still. Like a big cookie... but 5 whole points is a lot!
Dinner: taco salad w/ lettuce (0), 1/8c black beans (0), 1/8c corn (0), red onion (0), 1/3c Yves Mexican Veggie Ground Round (2), 30g light monteray jack cheese (2), salsa (0)... yogurt (1)
Total: 22
Water: 4.5L!!! No wonder I visited the little powder room so often!
Lunch (nothing exciting):So... fall is upon us. Time to embrace apples and citrus fruit. Time to make soups, stews and chilis. Time to go back to good old trick of evening tea as a treat. Ahhh fall... the season where you start to sleep more comfy at night thanks to the little nip in the air... the season of my birthday, alex's birthday... and our '6 year anniversary'... the season we TRY to avoid all the Halloween candy... and start to embrace the Christmas season. Time to accept the shorter days and pull myself out of bed at 6am despite the fact that it's dark out. Fall... I will welcome thee (but don't hurry along... I don't mind an Indian summer). I have changed my blog 'look' to reflect my embracing of fall.

Sunday post #2
Not much to report since I last posted... but I'll fill you in on my day.
First, I managed to enjoy a nice jog!
Also, I managed to get a little bit of cleaning done... and then a lot of relaxing!
Here's what I ate...
Breakfast: ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread (2), 1tbsp natural PB (2), cinnamon (0), apple (1)
Snack: carrot cake clif bar (5) - loving clif bars! They're like a big cookie!
Lunch: flatout x2 (2), chicken (1), cheese (1), salsa (0), black beans, corn & red onion (0)
Snack: popcorn (3)
Dinner: salad w/ feta (2), garden burger (1), EVOO/balsamic/garlic/frank's salad dressing (2)
Total: 22
Water: 3L
Tonight's salad:So... Friday night's dinner was really good (well, for those of us who eat poultry!). I remember reading a recipe years ago for some slow cooker chicken. I can't find the exact recipe any more... although I saw similar ones... so, I sort of winged it and made it my own. I took 2 chicken breasts (thawed... boneless, skinless... of course).... and on Friday morning I put them in the slow cooker with a crap load of salsa and some water... I also threw in black beans & corn (my favourite little mixture you know) and some red onion. When I came home Friday night I was able to pull apart the chicken just like you would do with 'pulled pork'... and mix it all up in the salsa/corn/bean mixture. It was so yummy! We put the mexican pulled chicken into some flatout wraps with some grated cheese... then grilled them. I put some sour cream on top of mine, Alex dipped his into sour cream on the side. You'd think I would have thought to take pictures... but I didn't!! We have already decided that will be this coming Friday night's dinner as well... I'll take photos then. It's a really tasty, low point... and CHEAP dinner!

Oops!
I don't know where the week went. I was feeling the effects of not having a day off in almost 2 weeks... and only having 1 day off in almost 3 weeks. No jogs last week. Eating... not so bad. Back to tracking at least.
Yesterday was a day in Pontypool... my parents have Simon right now (while his parents are in Switzerland checking out Jacob's job offer... sucks, I know. They might move to Switzerland). Poppa Jim came down to visit for the afternoon... so Alex and I headed out there too. It was a great day. It was also nice that on the way home Alex admitted he sees why it's so hard for me to stay on track in Pontypool... it's treats o' plenty around there! You find yourself putting them in your mouth without even realzing you are.
Today was going to consist of some fun shopping together... but we're both tired. I'm actually spending the day at my place. I honestly don't know the last time I did this... spend a day at home. I'm sure I need it! I have done my grocery shopping and put it all away... had breakfast and lunch... done a teeny bit of cleaning... now I think I might have some quality couch time before a nice, quality jog!
Oh... PS. Gained 7lbs in the 4wks since I had last weighed in. OOPS!!! My new mantra? 'eat every day like it's your last... before weigh in'. I guess I didn't live up to that yesterday. Back at it today though.
Remind me later to tell you about the SOOOOOO GOOD dinner I made on Friday!!
Happy fall!

TCBY!
So last night we had the Mexican pizza for dinner... then were going to go to the movies, but decided we didn't feel like it. We did, however, feel like dessert. So, we headed to TCBY (The Country's Best Yogurt). This is a store that was only in the US (we had some at the las vegas airport and LOVED IT). We both felt like blizzards... so we got the TCBY 'shiver'... low fat (almost FF) fro yo with 4 kinds of mixin's in with it (I had chocolate yogurt w/ m&m's, reese pieces, skor bits... and I forget what else). It was so good!
I was fully ready for a full night's sleep.... when I was woken at 2am by a loud thud. I looked outside a few minutes later only to see a dead body lying on our front lawn... he had jumped from the 14th floor. Police, EMT and fire were all here, police tape went up... they left the guy lying there for a while before they finally covered him with a sheet... and then the coroner didn't come get him until 6am. It was too creepy to sleep.... knowing there was a dead person lying on the front lawn of our building. Today I can see someone has left flowers where he landed.... and I can see on his balcony that he had a chair pulled up to the ledge. Crazy.
Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep last night. I ran to shoppers this morning... but otherwise, had a snooze and no jog. Now I have to head to work.
Here's what I've eaten
bf - kashi (4) w/ almond breeze as I'm out of milk (1)
AM snack - cliff bar (4)
lunch - same as breakfast (5)
Dinner planned for work - homemade lentil/mushroom/spinach soup (1?), tomatoes and cucumber courtesy of the Mathews' garden (0), nectarine (1), yogurt (1), hummus (1), kashi crackers (2)
Total: 20
Water - not enough yet!!! 1L so far!
Enjoy your long weekend Saturday everyone!

Today is the first day...
... of the rest of my weight loss.
I have been OFF program for a good 3 weeks now. I didn't go to weigh in last night... I was 'sick' from work and found myself in Hamilton babysitting Simon (what a GREAT day!). The week in Vegas I didn't track what I ate. The week after I didn't track while in Pontypool. Last week was a half-assed attempt at tracking. I am now back to my own place (sadly, not totally unpacked yet)... and have been for almost a week. Despite the fact that I'm working every day this long weekend... I'm going to be back on track. No more missing weigh in... back to the plan of getting to goal weight (and STOP paying for WW!).
You'll see me back here posting my food and all about my morning jogs... and evening activity (as well as lunch time walks). Maybe this will be the month I look into finally *trying* hot yoga!
So... as you as my witness. This is it. I am back!!! I hope to have my sleeping back on track too. Last night I fell asleep around 10:30... was back up before midnight... then couldn't get back to sleep until 4am! What's up with my sleeping? I either fall asleep early and then wake in the night (and can't get BACK to sleep)... OR, I can't fall asleep until really late. I guess I will have to make melatonin a part of my evening routine for a while and see if that helps.
Let's recap this week's goals, shall we?
1. Eat healthy (have a menu plan done)
2. TRACK everything I put in my mouth
3. jog at least 4 days
4. lunch time walks again
5. remember to take my vitamins (which, I did this week!)
6. Get back to using face wash every day (yes, I slack - just used water on some days... but I don't wear make up so it's not so bad)
7. Take melatonin every night
8. Do cardio max (BL DVD) 2-3 times
9. Research yoga (and hot yoga) prices and class times
10. Unpack and get organized!!
There... sounds like some nice, realistic goals... no?
Care to know today's menu?
Breakfast: 2pc Ezekeil cinnamon raisin toast (2) w/ becel spray (0) and cinnamon (0)... because I read an article by Dr. Oz saying cinnamon can cut sweets cravings. Bring on the cinnamon!
Snack: really small pear and small nectarine (1), jasmine green tea (0)
Lunch: WW soup, 2c (2), nectarine (1), yogurt (1)
Snack: banana larabar (4)
Dinner (planned): Mexican pizza... 1 PC multigrain crust (6), black beans, corn, onion (0), chicken breast (1), cheese (3)... banana soft serve dessert (2)
(Possible) snack at the movies, popcorn from home: 3
(planned) total: 26 - not bad for a Friday!
