Live from Pontypool... It's SATURDAY NIGHT!
I'm in Pontypool... doing a quick post. Alex has left. I am sad, I miss him aleady (okay, enough of that..)
I am proud to say I am doing okay... but I fear that's not good enough. It's midnight and I don't feel 'hungry'... maybe I did eat too much?
Today I got on the treadmill and enjoyed a 45min jog before getting all packed up and heading to Pontypool for mom and michele's birthdays.
Here's a quick recap of what I've eaten
BF - protein bar (4) - btw... kristen's boyfriend, kurt, is a trainer and he totally approves the protein bars mom and i got ("motivate" at Costco)... says they're good ones!
Lunch - protein shake (3) - my protein powder also received the Kurt seal of approval tonight
Snack (while everyone else was snacking on chocolate and chips, etc) - healthy fruit/veggie bites (1)
Dinner - 2pcs veggie pizza from Pontypool store (8), ceasar salad with ff drsg, croutons, bacon bits, skim milk cheese (5), pineapple angel food cake (2) w/ ff cool whip (1)
Total: 24 (maybe I snacked on a bit of cheese while making the cheese garlic bread I didn't eat... so maybe I should say 2pts at most for that and make my total 26).
So, my accomplishment for today? NOT eating the lemon cake I made with a TON of cream cheese icing in the middle and buttcream on the outside... I didn't even have a smidge of it... and no ice cream either!! I am feeling happy!!!
We even played some Wii tonight (including, but not limited to, boxing... a bit of cardio!!).

TGIF!
I haven't gotten everything done today... I've been enjoying my day off and taking things slow. I went grocery shopping, baked a couple of cakes and some pineapple angelfood cupcakes... made some cream cheese icing and some buttercream... and then assembled the 2 lemon cakes with cream cheese icing in the middle and buttercream on the outside. I've also made some decorations to put on it once in Pontypool tomorrow. I haven't made it on the treadmill yet... but I am going to!!! probably in 15min or so.
Here's what I've eaten today:
Breakfast: oatmeal (2)
Snack: protein bar (4)
Lunch: flatout (1), tuna (1), skim milk cheese (1), angelfood cupcake (2), minigo (2)
Licking the spoon while baking: (3 at the most, I'm going to over estimate)
Dinner: angelfood cupcake (2)
Total: 18
I don't really feel like eating anything else... but that may change.
*Just spoke to my mom. She and dad are doing shopping in the morning so I'm not heading out as early as I thought... treadmill has been postponed from today to tomorrow morning. Rest of the evening will be relaxing and watching for Tara to post and fill us in with how she spent her day off!!*

SUCCESS!!!
Down 3.2lbs!!
Healthy eating rocks... most days that is.
I went on the treadmill today. I went to work. I went to WW. I went to subway. I have eaten my footlong sub (12), a chocolate bar (7) and some licorice (3). Today's total = 22. I am stuffed now. If I get hungry later I will allow myself tostitos and salsa.
After today it's back to healthy eating... with the ODD treat on the weekend. I think I'm going to stick with my new healthy ways (with the odd weekend treat). It's working for me so far!!
I am off of work tomorrow and will bake mom and michele's birthday cake... and try not to eat any cake batter or icing!!

Hump day is tough
Today was a bit tougher. PMS can be brutal for my cravings (and usually I give in because I see it as an excuse to misbehave). It doesn't help that Alex had a tough day so I suggested we stop at bulk barn on the way home and get candy! You know what I ended up walking away with? Nothing!! I thought about buying a treat for after WW tomorrow, but I didn't know what I'd feel like and was afraid it would tempt me tonight... so, I didn't get anything!!
Getting on the treadmill was also tougher this morning. The scale didn't move from yesterday so I was ready to give up and go back to bed for the morning... but, I didn't. I still made myself jog.
Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast: oatmeal (2)
AM snack: Protein smoothie (3)
Lunch: salad with lettuce (0), cucumber (0), tomato (0), skim milk cheese (1), tuna (1), balsamic and EVOO drsg (2) yogurt (1), fruit salad (1)
Snack: larabar (4), minigo (2)
Dinner: omelette with 1 egg (2), 4 egg whites (1), salsa (0), cheese (1)
Total: 21
Water: 4L
Good luck tomorrow! I have NO idea what the scale will show (I guess it depends a bit on a girly factor right now... geez! I'm at the mercy of it!).

Pro-healthy way... for today!
So far, this 'healthy way' is totally working for me. I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped on the scale this morning!! It motivated me and made it that much easier to get on the treadmill again... yay!
I'm now home and have eaten dinner... I will get tomorrow's lunch made and the dishes done before settling in for The Biggest Loser. Unfortunately it's only 1hr of biggest loser tonight and the 2nd half is tomorrow night... all because of Obama's address to Congress being televised... but, looking on the bright side, we get TWO nights of Bob!!
Here's what I ate today
Breakfast: oatmeal (2)
Snack at work: protein shake, made the same as yesterday and very yummy (3)
Lunch: 1c whole wheat pasta (3) with salsa (0) and skim milk cheese (1)... tuna with hot sauce and garlic (1), 1c fruit salad (1), yogurt (1)
PM snack: fruit snacks (2), protein bar (3)
Dinner: chicken breast marinated in balsamic vinegar and garlic then steamed (3), steamed peppers, mushrooms and zucchini (0)
Total: 20
Water: 5.5L
I really didn't feel hungry for dinner tonight after my big PM snack... but knew if I didn't eat, I would be starving when it's time for bed. Let me tell you, my chicken was soooooo good! I could have eaten more (so much for not feeling hungry!!)

Rockin' it!!!
Woohoo!!!
So, I was in Pontypool from Friday evening until later last night... the weather was absolute CRAP in Pontypool yesterday afternoon and kept me from coming back to the city to go to work (for last night's evening shift). Poor me, I had to stay with my nephew a little longer... It was a great weekend. The poor little toddler was sick (cold), but he is a tropper and still loves to march around, chat up a storm and play... but then he had more 'cuddly' moments because of being sick. He even came up and ASKED me for a hug at one point... it was so sad and sweet.
I will stop there because I could talk about him and tell stories about him all night!!
I managed to stick *mostly* to my plan this weekend! This morning my scale did not show a loss from Friday morning... but didn't show a gain! No exercise on the weekend (aside from walking around with Simon)... but I managed to stay enough on track to not have a gain after a weekend at mom and dad's (something that never happens!). By the time I got back last night I was exhuasted and didn't even bother posting... but tonight, I will!
I went to Costco in Peterborough with my mom on Saturday (grandpa got to stay home and have grandpa/Simon time). While there, I came across these:
They're by sun-rype and they are totally all-natural ingredients (all fruit and vegetable puree, juices). They are 2 points for 23 pieces and they are like eating gummi candies!!! They fit my challenge this week perfectly!! AND... 23 of the "candies" is 3 fruit/vegetable servings in your day! Last night I pre-counted out 2 point portions and put them in individual ziploc bags!!
Okay, sales pitch is over. Today I managed to get back on the treadmill! Then went to work...

Breakfast: 2 egg whites (0), flatout wrap (1), salsa (0)
Lunch: 1c whole wheat pasta (3), salsa (0), 1/4c chick peas and black beans (1), yogurt (1)
Snack: protein shake with frozen fruit (1), yogurt (1), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (1), crystal light (0)

Dinner: salad with veggies (0), tuna (1), skim milk cheese (1), balsamic dressing with 2 tsp EVOO (2), balsamic vinegar (0), garlic (0), mustard (0), hot sauce (0)

Water: 6L - woohooo, back up to more water!!!
I said I was going to post what I ate on the weekend... I did actually record what I ate, but I'm too lazy to record it... so, I will disclose to you what I ate that wasn't entirely healthy: 4 jubes, 3 coffee crisp singles, 100cal pack of sunchips. I did eat 1/2c of whole fat ice cream... BUT I have read somewhere that having 1 serving of full fat dairy a day is actually best for you... and they said that includes portion-controlled ice cream! I don't know that I'll buy any for here... but it was a treat I felt worthy of at mom and dad's house!!
On to tomorrow... It feels great to actually feel like I'm treating my body well and fueling it well... my mood (despite being my 'week of the month') is great!!

It happens...
Just like Tara said.
I thought I might be up, but not this much... 0.8lbs I've gained. It wasn't the worst week in history, but I could have improved. I really have to make a goal of not blowing it when I go to Pontypool this weekend... that was my struggle last weekend. I actually think once I'm back to routine next week at work I'll do better as well.
I was bummed and went to shoppers on the way home... I looked at all the chocolate there and finally did allow myself to buy peanut butter cups...
So, today we have:
Breakfast - oatmeal (2), yogurt (1)
Dinner - subway (12), peanut butter cups (6)
Total: 21
*Now, the question is... will I actually make my nachos I thought about having? I have baked tostitos and light cheez whiz and salsa... right now I'm full, so we'll see if it's something I desire during Grey's... in which case I will eat another 6 points and dip into my flex (Thursday after weigh in is an okay time to use flex points!!)*
Answer: I ate the nachos! I melted 4tbsp light cheez whiz and then stirred in some salsa... for a cheesy salsa dip... and then had 14 baked tostitos and dipped in my cheesy salsa.
Happy Friday... let's get our butt's in gear for next week. I vow to make good decisions and feel proud of myself after my weekend!!!
Some Final thoughts for tonight after watching Grey's.
1. I hate death... it's so sad. I love the episodes where nobody dies. I hate the episodes where somebody dies while they are still young and it's not their time.
2. I would love for Dr. McSteamy to save me... he is definitely my favourite. I wouldn't want him to be my family doctor or anything... just have to save me from a splinter or papercut or something.
Today is the day
I know it may be a bit late to wish us luck for today... but I'm going to (by "us" I mean Tara and myself).
I did go on the treadmill today... but I'm not feeling optimistic at all for my results. This weekend is going to be busy and a good test to my control and will power... and desire to get to goal weight already. This is going to be a huge test.
I didn't go on the treadmill for as long today, just 45min (but did intervals today) because I feared my muscles working too hard and retaining water or something... or, I was just tired and I'm using my muscles as an excuse.
I haven't eaten much today. I'm actually not feeling the greatest. Here's what I've had
Breakfast: black coffee (0), yogurt (1), oatmeal (2)
I still plan on having my subway for dinner (of course!). I will be back to update results later!

Damn PMS
It is taking every ounce of willpower I have in me not to cave and have something to eat... I feel hungry and I am craving bad things. In order to cope... I am going to torture myself (and everyone reading) and post photos of what I would like to eat now... in no particular order.
Of course, I have eaten none of it... but, I must admit... it's been fun looking at all the food I would love to eat!

I went for a 90min jog this afternoon! I took about a 3min break at the 1hr mark (but didn't count those few minutes towards my jog... I paused the treadmill). It was tiring... but fun. I put on the movie "27 dresses" and just jogged...
Otherwise, I didn't accomplish much today... I spent a considerable amount of time watching TV and looking on the mls website.
I did end up eating more last night before bed... a bowl of bran (who craves bran, seriously?? and 1c of skim milk... so, add 3 points to yesterday's total).
Here's what I've eaten today:
Breakfast - bagel (2), cheez whiz (1)
AM snack (I don't know why I woke up so hungry today) - flatout wrap (1), some cheez whiz (1), light monteray jack cheese (2)
Lunch - SERIOUS popcorn craving (6), cheese string (1)
post treadmill snack - cheese string (1), cheese slices (1)... can we say cheese craving? crazy PMS cravings this month
Dinner - tuna with miracle whip (3), 0pt soup (0) with steamed veggies added (0)

Water: 4L... with probably 1 more tonight

Happy Biggest Loser night!
Well, I am on vacation officially... until Sunday when I work at my 2nd job. Today was spent being lazy in the morning then heading out to Pickering for the afternoon... by the time I got home I was hungry for dinner... so, ate dinner and then planned on going on the treadmill... but something I ate isn't sitting right with me after dinner (feels like none of my food has digested)... so, I haven't gotten there yet. It may not happen today after all, but it's okay because tomorrow I have ZERO plans so I will go on the treadmill EXTRA long!!
Yesterday I went to see Poppa Jim... he is doing really well. He is quite optimistic about going home. We know he can't care for him and grandma so I believe the consensus is we will find them a live-in, full time caregiver. It will be great for them to be able to stay in their house. The exhausting part for my parents and aunts/uncles right now is making sure someone is with grandma all the time... my mom works 5 days a week so she can't help during the week, so she ends up taking her every weekend... my mom is exhausted. My uncle is going to stay with grandma this weekend (since he works 5 days a week also he has only slept over at the farm, not actually spent days with her... so it's his turn!). It will all work out.

Lunch - salad with chicken (2) and balsamic drsg (2), flatbread (3)

Off to a good start
I have been on the treadmill already... I put on the DVD "The Devil Wears Prada"... I hadn't watched it in forever so I managed to lose myself in the movie and forget I was on the treadmill.
I was on my way to Pontypool... the plan was to stay in Pontypool until ICU visiting hours from 5-8pm. Those plans have changed. Grandma couldn't wait for me to get to Pontypool and was insisting to go home... so, I'm going to head to Pontypool and then maybe head to the farm for a visit with her there... then go in to the hospital with my parents... I don't know really. I'll head to pontypool and then call my mom and figure out the plan.
Here's what I've eaten so far today:
Breakfast - ww bagel (2), cheese slice (1), 2 egg whites (0)
Lunch - cheese string (1), yogurt (1), popcorn (3) --- not such a healthy lunch, I grabbed it quickly so I can head out.
Dinner - subway (12)
Snacks... OOPS! 6 hershey mini's (6), 4 hershey kisses (4)
Total: 30... flex points again!
*I am back to add what else I have eaten!! I came to Pontypool only to head out to the farm... another 45min of driving... grabbed dinner for everyone at subway, had a visit with grandma... then back to pontypool we came after my aunt linda took over for her shift. We are going to visit poppa jim tomorrow at the hospital... I shall bake chocolate cupcakes for him in the morning*

Happy Valentine's Day!!
Well, happy day o' love to everyone!
I started out the day by being very lazy... didn't get out of bed until 8am... laid down on the couch all morning, had a nap... then went to bed and napped... then finally got myself on the treadmill and showered and out the door to enjoy dinner at the keg with my beloved. At least I got on the treadmill.
I have definitely gone over on my points... but I will be honest and tell you what I've eaten:
Breakfast - ww bagel (2), 1tbsp light cheez whiz (1), 2 egg whites (0)
Lunch - steamed veggies (0), steamed baby potatoes (2)
Dinner at the keg - teriyaki chicken (7), mashed potatoes (8), bread (3), baked brie appetizer (7)... and no alcohol... wasn't worth the points tonight!
Total: 30 (thank you flex points)
I could use activity points if I wanted... I earned 4 of them, but I won't bother...
Tomorrow the plan is to get on the treadmill then head to Pontypool then to Lindsay to see Poppa Jim at the hospital... then out to the farm (to take grandma home, she is with mom and dad again this weekend)... then back to Pontypool! I plan to head back here Monday evening and have a few days to myself here to get some much needed cleaning done... Then Friday I am meeting Michele in Bowmanville because Simon has a doctor's appointment (18 month needles... a little late, but he was sick and couldn't get them before), I'm going to take Simon from her and send her back to Hamilton to enjoy a birthday weekend with her husband. I'm going to take Simon to my office to show him off, then head to Pontypool to surprise Grandma and Grandpa for an overnight visit... then Saturday I'll bring him back to my place so Alex and I can enjoy an afternoon/evening with him! He is either going home Saturday night or Sunday morning... depending on what Michele and Jacob would like to do. It will be a busy few days (as I work Sunday evening as well), but well worth it!!

The countdown is on
Tomorrow is the big V-day! In an effort to save money... we are forfeiting our original plans to go to the CN tower for dinner and instead are going to try to get a table at The Keg. Alex had a wonderful idea to go to the CN tower because it was 5yrs ago at Valentine's Day that we had our first real fancy date together... and that is where he took me. It was a great and romantic idea to go there again (kudos to him)... but in the end saving money is our #1 priority... and that is even more exciting.
I am flying solo tonight. Alex is coming down with some minor flu symptoms... so, in an effort to feel better by tomorrow, he is being obedient and going straight home to bed to rest!! I will continue with the lazy theme of my day off and will lie on the couch and enjoy some chick flics!! (or I'll watch high school musical on TV. I love kiddie movies and actually haven't seen it).
So, as I mentioned... lazy day. I did some cleaning, but otherwise... relaxed. No sick people/relatives to worry about... no place to have to go... just me and the sun shining through my windows! I didn't get on the treadmill... I thought about going on this evening, but I'm not going to bother. Tomorrow morning I will... I swear.

We Have Success!
Down 2.4lbs! Yay! I must have burned more calories at work today or something... or my last ditch effort on the treadmill worked. This morning when I first stepped on the scale I weighed 0.3lbs more than last Thursday morning... but after I visited the powder room and THEN stepped back on the scale I was 0.4lbs LIGHTER than last Thursday... I figured at best I'd be the same this week. I did manage to get on the treadmill and do intervals... legs stayed intact (I am happy to report).
Here is what I ate today (so far)
Breakfast: ww bagel (2), pb (2)
Snack: cheese string (1)
Dinner: subway!! (12)
Total: 17
I may have some popcorn during Ugly Betty or Grey's... and enjoy NO baking tonight... just me and my couch and my puppy!

Baking? Anyone? Anyone?
I've been baking again tonight... and making birthday cards. I love baking, but I will be glad not to tomorrow night! I will bake again on Saturday since I'm going to bake some chocolate cupcakes or brownies to take to my Poppa Jim on Sunday!
Here's some photos of the baking (which is for people at work... which I'm not getting paid for!).
Lemon cupcakes with whipped filling and cream cheese frosting... for a birthday party at work tomorrow:
Red velvet cupcakes (just a typical white cake but add cocoa or melted semi sweet chocolate and red food colouring!) with cream cheese frosting... and a candy for decoration: Sugar cookies (decorated with royal icing... just icing sugar, water and meringue powder):
I did get on the treadmill today but not for long... I was up late baking and busy this morning doing stuff for today's "accreditation jubilation". Tomorrow morning I plan to do a real last chance workout... and feel like my legs will fall off! I feel bloated today so at this point I'm not optimistic I will be down this week!!!

Happy Birthday my pup!!
Well, my dear Chicklet turns 6yrs old today. She has definitely been a great addition to my life... Nobody will ever love me like she does. I wish I could make her feel as loved as she does for me!!
Anyway, on to today. Let's cut to the chase... no treadmill. Alarm went off at 6am and I decided I needed sleep... so that is exactly what I did.

Snaps for me... I'm baking tonight and have not done anything more than lick the spoon with cake batter on it!! I am sick of looking at icing right now!!
Tonight I have managed to watch biggest loser while baking... I wanted to be in bed by 10pm... I will take about 10min to ice some heart-shaped red velvet cupcakes (cream cheese icing)... and try to do most of the dishes quickly... and still try to be in bed by 10:30... and try for the treadmill tomorrow!!!

Staying positive
Well, Poppa Jim is safely back in his hometown hospital... he was lethargic today and refused to eat (for the RN's and for my aunt) and appeared annoyed... I can't blame him. He didn't get back to his home hospital until the wee hours of the morning... He is tired and cranky. He must be feeling bummed out by now and frustrated that when he tries to speak... the words can't come out. I feel bad for him. He is a fighter though, I have hopes for him! Can you tell how much I love my Poppa??? He is such a wonderful and kind person!!
So, I got myself on the treadmill today... yay. I did intervals and at one point felt like my legs may fell off, but I think that's what I needed.
Here's what I ate:
Breakfast - fruit salad (1), 1/2c all bran (1), yogurt (1)
Lunch - smart ones ravioli (5), yogurt (1)
snack - popcorn (3)
dinner - 0pt soup (0), chicken breast (3), spaghetti squash (1), tomatoes (0), yogurt (1)
Snack at home - sugar cookie pieces (?3)
Total: 20

I have already made my lunch for tomorrow and planned what I will wear... I will now retire for the night and hopefully get on the treadmill in the morning... tuesdays are hard!
Tara: Kristen has a gazelle!! I think when I've used it long enough I do feel it in my butt the next day!
Happy Tuesday... I am off on Friday, but have a very busy week up until then... so I just have to get through the next 3 days!! At least it's a LONG weekend and I am NOT working (I took Valentine's weekend off!).

Roller Coaster Ride
Today is one of those days... My day started out with a phone call that things were not looking good for Poppa Jim... he was deteriorating and they thought they was more blood on the brain... i was done. I couldn't get myself out of bed except to be sick because I was so upset... Then we get the call that the catscan results came back and there was no blood on the brain... but his brain was swollen... so, they shipped him off to st mike's where he is now. when he got there the staff discovered he was totally dehydrated so they hooked up an IV and they saw improvements immediately... now we are waiting for results from a CT scan to figure out what is going on.
My plans for today changed. No treadmill. No appetite either... I did do some baking for work though.
Here's what I had today:
Breakfast/lunch - fruit salad (2), apple (1), leftover veggies (0)
Snack - cheese string (1), popcorn (3)
Total: 7
Water: 1L
i thought about dinner a couple of hours ago but haven't been hungry and don't have the energy to make anything.
I'll end with some photos from yesterday's hard work with my veggies:

NEW FOOD FINDS!!
You can imagine my pleasant surprise when I was browsing through my Superstore this morning and found the following NEW and EXCITING products!! Now... if we could only get all the crystal light flavours and flatout wraps here...
Now I'm off to cut up my vegetables (so they are easy to grab and steam/cook during the week) and make some 0pt vegetable soup!! I may get time for the treadmill before work... I might not... I won't freak out if I don't.

Great and greater
I got up today and got myself on the treadmill! It felt great!! I have to go back to getting to bed at a decent time so I can get up earlier in the morning. I only went on for 30min... but it's a start.
I'm now waiting for Alex to get here so we can go grab dinner from the foodcourt (chicken and vegetables for me)... and then come home, watch a movie and play some Wii!!
So, the good news is I went on the treadmill. The GREAT news is Poppa Jim is back at the Lindsay hospital! My mom sent me photos of his scar (Aunt Linda took photos while visiting him)... it's the craziest scar on someone's head... I'm sure doctors/RNs/hospital staff see these scars all the time... but I don't! Regardless, he is back home for his rehab and we are all happy. My grandma is extremely happy to be able to go see him... she has missed him a lot.
This weekend will consist of grocery shopping tomorrow, then working an afternoon shift. Sunday will be "working from home" (baking)... I'm not sure how if I'll get to Lindsay or not... just like it's been all week... things could change at the drop of a hat.
Here's what I've eaten today
Breakfast: oatmeal (2), yogurt (1)
Lunch: lettuce wraps with chick peas (2), spoonful of black beans (0), salsa (0), cheese slices (1)... yogurt (1), fruit salad (1), angel food cake (2)
Snack: angel food cake (2)
Total so far: 12
Dinner (planned): chicken 4/5?, veggies (0)

**Just received confirmation that Poppa Jim is safely in his Lindsay bed!!**

Let's start the new week off right...
"Nothing will work unless you do" Nothing will work unless I do.
I have already made my lunch for tomorrow. My menus are done (with some tweaking tomorrow maybe).
I have taken my melatonin to help me get to sleep tonight. I am already going to head to bed. I am going to leave my computer in the living room so I'm not tempted to surf in bed.
It's going to be a good week.

Play by play / Results
Going to WW now! My honest to God prediction is I will be up 5lbs... more than what I weighed following Christmas. It's okay, I won't freak out. I will remedy this.
I will be back... and I have begun the game plan for recovery week - starting TOMORROW!!
I am back... I was up 4.2lbs. Not good. Unfortunately... I am not upset by this. How can I be upset when a week ago we didn't know if I would still have my Poppa Jim? He is doing well and may come home by the weekend!! I am back on track.
Here is what I vow to do:
Make my meal plans for the next week
Make my grocery list accordingly
Get back on the treadmill in the mornings
NOT push myself to get in 2 workouts a day... if it happens, it happens
TRACK everything... back to writing everything in my tracker WHEN I eat it (haven't tracked for about a week now)
I can totally do it!! I have EVERY reason to succeed. Life is good!!
I am off to eat my sub. Here's todays food:
BF - bagel (2), cheese slice (1)
Dinner - turkey sub (12)
Snack during Grey's - popcorn (3)
TARA - you can totally use me for your passport!!! I'm actually excited for us to kick each other's butts and get on track this week! Way to go on your last minute save on your week!!!! So awesome!! I can't believe you haven't found the vitalicious muffins! At the stores I look at they are in the freezer section with the vegetarian/healthy stuff... but let me know if you don't find them and I will bring some with me when I come visit you in March!! Do you ever go to Walmart Superstore at 401 and Stevenson in Oshawa? They have the McCain singles and the vitalicious muffins there!
